The man accused of murdering a Lyerly teenager last year wants to withdraw his guilty plea.

Andy Espinosa was sentenced to life in prison for the murder of fifteen-year-old Zach Mejia in December of last year.  Espinosa was arrested after Mejia was found stabbed at his home in Lyerly.  Espinosa was the boyfriend of the deceased boy’s mother.

The Summerville News reported yesterday that in the petition to withdraw his guilty plea, Espinosa claimed that his defense did not provide adequate representation when he plead guilty earlier this year.

Meija would have celebrated a birthday this week.
