The Walker County Commission passed a resolution allowing the use of a county-owned building in LaFayette, to be used as a future African American Museum and Cultural Center.

The former Long John Silvers restaurant building at 309 North Main will be used by the Walker County African American Historical and Alumni Association to develop the project.  The resolution allows them use of the building as of November 1st of this year.

Beverly Foster thanked the Commission for their participation in establishing Walker County’s first museum dedicated to the history and accomplishments of the African American community.
