A mile-long traffic back-up iin Rome was cleared from a two-vehicle wreck with injuries on Alabama Highway reported shortly after 5 p.m Saturday.

The road was closed about 2 miles from the state line but the vehicles were removed shortly after 6 p.m.

Georgia State Patrol troopers on the scene did not immediately provide specifics but gave the following report of the wreck:

A red pick-up truck hauling a boat was headed eastbound on Alabama Highway when a black pick-up going west swerved into its lane. The two trucks collided head-on and the boat was thrown off the trailer.

Both drivers were taken to a local hospital with unknown injuries.
