A twenty-four-year-old Alabama man was arrested in Northwest Georgia after he was caught shoplifting.  While officers were arresting him on the shoplifting charges, they found suspected cocaine in his possession.

According to Floyd County Jail records, Hayden James Merritt of Cedar Bluff attempted to steal $1,331.54 worth of merchandise from The Home Depot in Rome.

Merritt was charged with felony shoplifting and possession of cocaine and was booked into the Floyd County Jail over the past weekend.
