
A Huntsville, Alabama Police Officer has been charged with capital murder on Friday of last week, linked to a shooting at a Madison apartment complex in which a Trion, Georgia woman was killed.
Huntsville Police say that the State Bureau of Investigation has charged HPD Officer David McCoy, 28, with capital murder. Police say that McCoy was off-duty at the time of the shooting on January 7th. Reports say that McCoy and Spraggins were in a romantic relationship.

Family members identified the victim as twenty-six-year-old Courtney Spraggins of Trion, Georgia. Family members also told reports with WAFF TV in Huntsville that Spraggins was 7-months pregnant at the time of her death.
Reports out of Huntsville indicate that McCoy tried to convince law enforcement on the scene that Spraggins’ death was a suicide.
Huntsville Police confirmed that McCoy was later charged with capital murder by the State Bureau of Investigation.
