An "All Clear" was finally given Wednesday morning, for those living near the Barwick Mills blaze in Lafayette. Air quality is now considered safe.
The Lafayette City Manager, David Hamilton, said that Global Environmental has been hired by the property owner to help with environmental protection efforts at the site.
That company has already brought in a tractor-trailer load of hay bales – which are being used to line the banks along Town Creek in an effort to contain the run-off from firefighting at the old mill. Reportedly, there are still areas just downstream from that blaze, where the water still has a blue to purple color – for which, no explanation has been given.
