Seven puppies, in bad shape, were rescued at Trade Day this week and Animal Advocates of Chattooga County is asking for the public to be aware of puppies that are being given away at flea markets and in the parking lots of local businesses.

Animal Advocates posted the following:
We wanted to share our concern about puppies being given away at Trade Day ( local flea market) and local businesses’ parking lots. Sadly it is not uncommon to see puppies confined, in the sun without water for half/whole day.
These 7 puppies were being given away Tuesday at Trade Day. Luckily a Good Samaritan saved them. All were extremely dehydrated, had fleas, lice, hook and round worms, and coccidia. Any of these can be deadly for 7-8 week old puppies. One was too weak to stand and drink water when offered.
We made sure they were immediately given medical care.
Please be aware of the condition that “free” puppy may be in.
At this time Animal Advocates has funds available to pay for dog and cat spay/neuters for Chattooga county residents in financial need. If you or someone you know needs assistance, forms to complete are at Chattooga County Animal Control and Summerville Veterinary Clinic. Let’s stop bringing unwanted puppies and kittens into the world!!
