On Tuesday of this week a Chattooga County Deputy was called to a residence on Highway 100 in Summerville after an employee with Chattooga County Animal Control asked that an incident report be filed concerning an animal welfare call.
When the deputy arrived, he spoke with the animal control employee who advised that he had visited 6144 Highway 100 in Summerville to speak with the property owner about animals in the property owners care.
According to the deputy, the property owner was agitated that the animal control officer was on his property. The report went on to say that Chattooga County Animal Control said that there had been a horse that was tied to a fence post and could not reach its food or water. The deputy said that while he was there, the horse was still tied to the post, but could reach the food and water. Several goats had no shelter and “nasty water”, according to the report. Also, there were at least five dogs behind that house in pens with “nasty water.” The deputy also reported that there were around 15 beagles in very small pens and it could not be determined if they had adequate food and water.
Chattooga County Animal Control contacted the Georgia Department of Agriculture about the conditions regarding the horse and the goats and asked that a report be filed about the incident.
