While much of the Midwest and Northeast saw a huge blizzard over the past couple of days, Chattooga County and Northwest Georgia have escaped any type of winter weather.  No matter who you believe – the groundhog, the Farmers Almanac or the weather forecasters – winter is not over yet.

Much of the mid-South will see some winter weather forming today and going into the weekend with snow forecasted as far south as Shreveport, LA and extending all the way up to the New England States.  We could see a brief round of winter weather overnight with rain changing over to sleet or snow.

Today: A 20 percent chance of rain after 1pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 45. North wind between 5 and 10 mph.

Tonight: Occasional rain before 4am, then occasional rain and snow. Low around 33. Calm wind. Chance of precipitation is 100%. Little or no snow accumulation expected.

Friday: Occasional rain and snow, becoming all rain after 10am. High near 41. North wind around 5 mph becoming calm. Chance of precipitation is 100%. Little or no snow accumulation expected.

Friday Night: Occasional rain. Low around 35. Calm wind becoming west around 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%.

Saturday: A 20 percent chance of rain before 1pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 46. West wind between 5 and 10 mph.

Saturday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 26.

Sunday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 55.
