The move from wet to dry has taken place in towns across the South in recent years. Now another town in Cherokee County, Alabama is looking at the possibility of alcohol sales within the city limits. Leesburg, Alabama has now surpased the 1,000 mark in total population and under Alabama law could move forward with legalizing alcohol sales within the city limits. Last year voters in Centre, Alabama voted to allow alcohol sales in that town. Leesburg officials say that a petition with at least 94 signatures would be necessary for the town to consider legalizing alcohol.
