Commuters between Menlo and Summerville can expect another year of delays at the construction site of the new Raccoon Creek Bridge on Georgia Highway 48.
The bridge replacement is being done by C.W. Matthews Contracting Company, who was the low bidder on the bridge that is costing $4,969,065. The project area is about three miles west of Summerville, on the way to Menlo, and also includes upgrading the approaches to the bridge.
The contract calls for work to be completed by April 30, 2024. An on-site detour is being used during the approximately 18 months of construction.
