Chattooga County Sheriff’s Office Deputies were recently dispatched to a location on Mahan Road in Summerville, in reference to a possible attempt to steal a vehicle.  Officers met with the complainant who stated that he was awakened between 5:30 and 6:00 that morning by what sounded like a car slowing down in front of his home, and when he looked outside his truck wasn’t in the driveway.

He then saw his Ford Ranger sitting in the roadway and at that point, dialed 9-1-1.

The owner said that someone had tampered with the starter on the vehicle a couple of days earlier, and afterwards he had disconnected the coil wire, disabling the truck.

The complainant said that he didn’t know who had tampered with the vehicle advising only that he’d seen a young man – that he didn’t know – in the area in the days leading up to the incident.

That matter remains under investigation.
