Georgia Agriculture Commissioner Tommy Irvin alerts consumers to the recall of a canned chili that has wheat as an ingredient but is not listed on the product label.

Pinnacle Foods Group LLC, Fort Madison, Iowa, is recalling approximately 91,125 pounds of its canned chili with beans because it is packaged with a “Gluten Free” label while in fact it contains wheat, an allergen.

Those with an allergy to wheat may have a serious or fatal reaction if they consume this product.

The product is packaged in cases that contain six 15-ounce cans labeled "ARMOUR Chili with Beans, Original." The plastic over-wrap incorrectly bears the statement "Gluten Free."  On the packaging there is establishment number "EST. 2AD" inside the USDA mark of inspection.

The chili product was produced between August 26 and October 28, 2009 and sold at retail stores in Georgia, North Carolina, Arkansas, Indiana, Illinois, Maryland, Mississippi, Missouri, Ohio, Virginia, and West Virginia.

Those with questions should call the Pinnacle Foods Group at (800) 253-5882.
