An Armuchee man is facing multiple felony and misdemeanor charges, including two counts of felony obstruction of law enforcement, following a volatile incident last month on West Big Indian Trail in Floyd County.

According to arrest warrants and records from the Floyd County Jail, 38-year-old Joshua Cleo Mize was apprehended following a confrontation on September 3. The warrants detail that during the arrest, Mize allegedly engaged in highly aggressive behavior toward police personnel.

The incident began after Mize was reportedly involved in a foot chase with officers. Following his apprehension and while detained in the back of a Floyd County patrol vehicle, Mize is accused of having intentionally spit blood at two different responding police officers.

This action resulted in Mize being charged with two counts of felony obstruction of law enforcement for knowingly and willfully obstructing or hindering the officers in the lawful discharge of their duties. He is also facing one count of misdemeanor obstruction.

In addition to the physical obstruction charges, Mize is accused of making severe verbal threats during the course of the incident. The arrest warrant states that Mize threatened to burn down a house, leading to a charge of terroristic threats and acts.

Furthermore, reports indicate that the incident occurred at a location on W. Big Indian Trail from which Mize had been previously banned. This resulted in an additional charge of criminal trespass.

Mize is also charged with two counts of probation violation.
