Apparently, arson was the cause for a Floyd County barn to go up into flames Sunday afternoon.
The fire, off of Black’s Bluff Road, destroyed the barn, burned 75% of a storage building, and damaged another.
Firefighters arrived at the property – which is owned by the City of Rome Water Department – at around 1:20pm.
An investigation also revealed that someone had tried to set a Caterpiller bulldozer seat on fire – the bulldozer was parked in one of the structures that was saved; reportedly a rag was also put in a bulldozer’s oil tank and set on fire.
Authorities say they have no suspects at this time. The investigation into the matter is on-going.
