The Chattooga County Board of Tax Assessors spoke to the local newspaper this week and said that the recent tax assessments sent out to property owners in the county may have been inaccurate in some cases.

The Chattooga County Tax Assessors Office encouraged Chattooga County residents to appeal their taxes, saying that they are compiling a list of “problematic areas” that need to be looked at, claiming that software used by the assessors’ office may have resulted in inaccurate assessments.

They say that the notice you received in the mail is an assessment that can be appealed.

Chattooga County residents have until August 21st to appeal their assessments.
