A thirty-two-year-old Atlanta man was arrested on Sunday afternoon after fleeing from deputies, crashing his car and running into the woods.

Chattooga County Sheriff Mark Schrader told WZQZ News that a deputy clocked Garrett Lee Arnold doing 97 mph while headed north on Highway 27 at Taylor’s Ridge.  The deputy gave chase and lost site of Arnold, who crashed his vehicle near Sturdivant Estates.

Arnold fled from the scene of the crash and a manhunt ensued.  After about two hours, a resident in the area reported seeing Arnold near Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Road.

Deputies arrested Arnold and charged him with driving on suspended license, a seat belt violation, failure to maintain a single lane, speeding, passing in a no passing zone and felony eluding.

Arnold was booked into the Chattooga County Jail and was awaiting a bond hearing on Monday morning.
