Chattooga County residents will see different ambulances in the county starting on Wednesday of this week.  Atrium Health Floyd will begin providing ambulance and EMS services to the county on September 1, 2022.

The change came after Chattooga County Commissioner Blake Elsberry picked Atrium Health Floyd to provide the service earlier this year.  Redmond EMS had been providing ambulance service for the county since then-commissioner Jason Winters phased out the county owned ambulance service in March of 2011.  Winters had signed a new 10-year contract with Advent Health Redmond to provide the service shortly before he left office, but Elsberry rebid the service.

Elsberry is a former employee of Atrium Health Floyd.

Atrium Health Floyd has announced that former Chattooga EMA Director Herbert Dodd will oversee EMS operations in Chattooga County.
