Officials with Atrium Health Floyd have scheduled a groundbreaking ceremony for the new freestanding emergency room that is to be built in Chattooga County.  The new facility will be built near Wal-Mart.

In a release late last week, Atrium Health Floyd said, “(ground breaking ceremonies will be held)  for our soon-to-be-built Freestanding Emergency Department in Chattooga County. Our staff is working closely with state, region and local officials to assist the county and its residents as they recover from last weekend’s devastating floods. We hope that this groundbreaking event will bring a measure of hope and assurance that Atrium Health Floyd is committed to being a resource in Chattooga County both now and for years to come.”

The facility will include six examination rooms, two observation rooms, X-ray, ultrasound, computed tomography and laboratory services. The facility will be open 24 hours a day, seven days a week and will employ 44 new teammates. An EMS team will respond from that location.

The groundbreaking ceremony is scheduled for tomorrow (Tuesday, September 13, 2022) at 4 PM.
