High School Parents, here is an acronym that should be near and dear to your heart, FAFSA. What do these five letters stand for and what do they have to do with you? We at CHS are glad you asked! FAFSA stands for Free Application for Federal Student Aid. Federal Student Aid provides money for college for students who are eligible. The FAFSA can be a challenging document to complete and the CHS counseling staff wants to guide you through the process to ensure that you and your child are following the correct steps toward financing higher education. Beginning on Tuesday, February 15th and continuing through Friday, February 18th the counseling staff will be on hand in the CHS Media Center to provide one on one FAFSA assistance to you. Staff will be available from 7:30am until 3:30pm. In order to correctly complete the FAFSA parents will need to bring their records of income earned in the year 2010. Also, it is suggested that parents bring social security numbers for themselves and their student, a driver’s license, 2010 W-W forms, and theirs and if married their spouse’s 2010 Federal Tax Return. For more information or to schedule a meeting time you must contact Counselor Sheila McKeehan at 706-857-2402.
