A Cherokee County, Alabama man was found dead in his vehicle a short time after midnight Tuesday.
There was no foul play involved.
According to Cherokee County Coroner Jeremy Deaton the deceased, identified as Rock Run resident Calvin Grimes was apparently on his way home from his workplace in Rome, when he experienced some type of a cardiac episode, and pulled off the roadway on Highway 411, near the Alabama/Georgia state line – probably around 11:00pm.
Shortly after midnight, a passing motorist – fearing there may have been an accident, pulled over to check on the man and dialed 9-1-1.
The Cherokee County Sheriff's Office, McCord's Fire Department, Cherokee EMS and County Coroner all responded to the scene.
Coroner Deaton attributed the cause of death to cardiac arrest.
