A number of personnel changes will be taking place in Chattooga County Schools in the not-too-distant future.
Of course the superintendent is in charge of the day-to-day operations of the school system, and that includes the moving of teachers, principals and assistant principals throughout the system to where he feels their skills will be most beneficial – and many of those changes are set to take place approximately six months from now including the launch of the brand new "Success Team". We recently spoke with Superintendent Jimmy Lenderman, about some of the exciting things planned for our local schools.
First, he informed us that both the Lyerly and Menlo schools will be getting new principals.
Mr. Charles Cooper will be appointed to the Principal position, at Lyerly Elementary School; he currently serves as Assistant Principal and a Curriculum Coordinator at the High School.
Mr. Mark Pickle will take over the role of Principal at Menlo Elementary School as he moves from the Middle School campus where he currently works with the Alternative School.
These changes are scheduled to go into effect July 1st and until that time both Mrs. Michelle Helie and Mrs. Paula Buice will stay in their present posts as principals at Lyerly and Menlo, respectively, before moving on to their new roles with the "Success Team" which will also officially begin the first day of July. Joining them will be Ms. Angie Colbert – science teacher at Menlo School along with Ms. Lisa Davis, who currently provides assistance to teachers system wide.
Members of the "Success Team" will concentrate on giving Chattooga County students what they need to do well in school – and in life.
These initiatives were presented to the Board of Education by Superintendent Lenderman – and no objections were voiced; and at this point it's full-speed ahead, as our local educators do everything they can to provide students with what they need to succeed.
