Winnie Lee Ledford Chandler

Date of Death   January 2, 2016
Parents:  Charles Milton Ledford and Ora Mae Smith Ledford from Teloga Community
Graduate Menlo High School I 1948
Retired from Best Manufacturing in Menlo, Georgia after 32 years of service.
Member of First Baptist Church in Summerville, Georgia and member of Seekers Sunday School Class.
Also attended the Chattooga Senior Center in Summerville, Georgia
Preceded in death by her parents, sisters Flossie Mae Wooten and Violet Arizona White; three brothers,  Charles Jack Ledford, Frank Ledford and Bobby Ledford.
Mrs. Chandler is survived by her husband of 38 years, Donald Minor Chandler;  three children, Susan & Randy Thompson of Canton, Georgia, Laura (Sally)  & Jeff Gamble of Armuchee, Georgia and Gary & Kathy Floyd of Cartersville, Georgia.
She is also survived by five grandchildren: Melissa Thompson Riddle, Meredith Thompson Carter, Jarrod Slaton Floyd, Jamie Kristin Woodward Brown and Anna Elaine Floyd.
Ten Great Grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Visitation will be Monday, January 4, 2016 from 6:00pm until 8:00 pm at Earle Rainwater Funeral Home in Summerville.  The funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 5th, at 2:00 pm from the J.D. Hill Chapel of the Earle Rainwater Funeral Home with Doyle Waters officiating.   Internment will follow at the Greenhills Memory Garden in Summerville.
Active pallbearers will be Jarrod Floyd, Jonathan Carter, David Riddle, Coleman Ledford, Jack Ledford and Randy Ledford.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Seekers Sunday School Class of the Summerville First Baptist Church and the members of the Chattooga County Senior Center in Summerville, Georgia.
Remembrances in the form of flowers or donations to the First Baptist Church of Summerville or Gideons International are appreciated.

Mr. Martin Randall Meadows obit (ER)

MR. MARTIN RANDALL (RANDY) MEADOWS, age 46, of West Springcreek Road, Trion, Georgia passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, December 30, 2015.  A native Chattooga Countian, He was born to the late Carthell Meadows and Linda Wesson Meadows, who survives.  Randy was a brick mason by trade, and had firefighter and haze mat training; He also was a natural/self taught musician.  In addition to His Father, he was preceded in death by a brother the late Robin Meadows, grandmother, the late Jackie (Meme) Wesson Stephens and numerous other family members.

        Surviving are His mother, Linda Meadows; daughter, Angel Meadows; sister, Renee Ware; brother, Davin Meadows; granddaughter, Sophia Grace Keen; girl friend, Melissa Wright; special friend, Billy Brown; aunts, Frances Ledford, Hazel Millican, & Rosemary Johnson; uncle, Charles M. Wesson; nephews, John (Jessica Ware, Brandon Meadows, Tommy Meadows, Patrick Greene; cousins, Rhonda J. Lively, Ricky Johnson, Landon Wesson, Kyle Wesson.

        Funeral services will be held Sunday, January 3rd, at 4:00 P.M. from the J. D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home Funeral Home with Rev. Chris Holcomb and Rev. Tracy Espy officiating, interment in Perennial Springs Cemetery.  Active Pallbearers Schawn Day, Roger Snipes, Jeff Goins, Tye McGuire, David McGuire, and Rickie Johnson; Honorary Pallbearers John Brady and Glen Alexander.  The Family will receive friends at the Funeral Home Sunday from 2 P.M. til the hour of service.

Mr. John Alvin Kimbrough Obit (M)

Mr. John Alvin Kimbrough, age 71, of Lyerly, GA, passed away Friday January 1, 2016, in Oakview Nursing and Rehabilitation. 

Mr. Kimbrough was born August 12, 1944, in Little Rock, Arkansas, the son of Bill and Marie Altman Kimbrough.  He was a truck driver, and was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Destiny Kimbrough. 

Survivors include his wife, Canada Faye Kimbrough, daughter & son-in-law, Betty & Joe Havens, sons & daughters-in-law, Johnny & Janet Kimbrough, James Brian & Patricia Kimbrough, Jason & Missy Kimbrough, Paul and Jennifer Kimbrough, brother, Jerry Kimbrough, sisters, Betty Walker, Clara Mae Carroll, Mary Beebee, 10 Grandchildren, 2 Great-grandchildren. 

Funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m. Monday January 4, 2016, from Mason Funeral Home Chapel with interment to follow in the Johnson Cemetery.   Rev. Charles Wayne Holcombe will officiate. Active pallbearers are Jason Kimbrough, Paul Kimbrough, Charles Kimbrough, John Kimbrough, James Kimbrough, Marshall Kimbrough, Philip Kimbrough, and Brian Kimbrough. 

Mr. Kimbrough will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday January 3, 2016.  Mason Funeral Home is directing.

Mr. Earl Clint Barfield Obit (C)

Mr. Earl Clint Barfield, age 88, of Rome, formerly of Trion, passed away Thursday, December 31, 2015 at the Redmond Regional Medical Center. 

Mr. Barfield was born in Trion, Georgia on February 18, 1927, son of the late Clifford Ray Barfield and Neva Price Barfield.  He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, serving in the United States Navy and the United States Marine Corps.  He retired from GE in Rome in 1992, but had previously worked at Riegel Manufacturing.  Mr. Barfield was a member of the American Legion and the VFW here in Summerville, and loved to play Poker, Slot Machines, Pool and bowl, and was an avid fisher.  He was a true family man and loved spending time with his kids and grandchildren.  Mr. Barfield was preceded in death by his son, Ricky Barfield; former wife, Betty Anne Adams; and two brothers, Kelly Barfield and James “Slats” Barfield. 

Mr. Barfield is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Kathy Marquez Whitaker and her husband, Dwayne and Trisha and Joe Bice; grandchildren, Laney Marquez Dyson, Casei Jordan Burkhalter and Preston Lee Barfield; great grandchildren, Taylor Grace Dyson, Chloe Anne Burkalter and Charlotte Corrine Burkhalter; nieces, Jan Morris, Elaine Hammond and Raye Dean Mahoney; and one great niece, Christy Hammond. 

Funeral Services for Mr. Barfield will be held Monday, January 4, 2016 at 2:00 P.M. in the Petitt Chapel of the Coffman Funeral Home with Rev. David Hayes and Rev. Valerie Loner officiating.  Interment will follow in the West Hill Cemetery with the Shanklin-Attaway Post 5 of the American Legion Honor Guard conducting Military Graveside Rites. 

Pallbearers will be Joe Bice, Dwayne Whitaker, Preston Barfield, Colton Burkhalter, Joey Price, Randy Pauley and Tim Mahoney. Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the Summerville American Legion and VFW Post, as well as members of the Ladies’ Auxiliary. 

Mr. Barfield will be in state at the Coffman Funeral Home where the family will receive friends Monday from 12:00 Noon until the funeral hour.
