UPDATE: CHATTOOGA COUNTY PUBLIC WORKS DIRECTOR JOE REED SAYS THAT MOST ROADS ARE NOW POSSIBLE AS OF 7 AM THIS MORNING. HEAVIER RAIN THIS MORNING CAUSED PROBLEMS ON SOME ROADWAYS, HOWEVER AT THIS TIME ROADS ARE PASSABLE. ROADS ARE OPEN, BUT CONTINUE TO USE CAUTION AS YOU TRAVEL AS MORE RAIN IS EXPECTED. CHATTOOGA COUNTY HAS A FLOOD WARNING THIS MORNING UNTIL 10:45 AM AND A FLOOD WATCH UNTIL THIS EVENING. CHATTOOGA COUNTY SCHOOLS ARE ON A 3 HOUR DELAY AND THE CHATTOOGA COUNTY NUTRITION CENTER WILL HAVE A 3 HOUR DELAY IN DELIVERING FOOD TODAY. TRION CITY SCHOOLS ARE ON A REGULAR SCHEDULE.
A 22 year old Rome woman is charged with aggravated assault for allegedly striking a man with her vehicle and dragging him as he held onto the hood.
According to Floyd County Jail records, Melissa Ann Horelica of a Turner Road address, had also attacked the victim by punching and slapping him in the face; she also stands accused of tearing his shirt and breaking out the driver’s side windshield of his vehicle.
She is also accused of pushing a woman, who attempted to intervene, to the ground.
The incident reportedly occurred in the presence of two children.
Horelica is also charged with criminal trespass, battery, terroristic threats & acts, and third
degree cruelty to children.
