A Maffett Street resident in Trion is upset about his neighbor’s chickens destroying his flower beds.
The man called the Chattooga County Sheriff’s Department last week and filed a complaint.
The responding deputy arrived and while the deputy was there at the residence, he too observed the neighbors chickens scratching mulch out of the flower beds. The deputy also stated in his report that he observed where the chickens had done damage earlier. The deputy was unable to locate the owner of the chickens at that time.
Three hours later the deputy returned and still was unable to make contact with the owner of the chickens. The deputy advised the complainant to call Chattooga County Animal Control the next time he saw the chickens causing damage and gave the complainant information on how to proceed in Chattooga County Magistrate Court to get compensation for the damages caused by the neighbor’s poultry.
