The Teloga Volunteer Fire Department will be selling Christmas Trees through December 20th.
All trees are $25.00 each and are still planted and living – the department will cut them for you if you desire.

A Rome man is facing a charge of aggravated assault after an incident that happened at a residence early Friday afternoon.
According to a Floyd County Jail report, Quentin Ladell Jackson Sr., 27, of a Dodd Boulevard residence held a gun to a woman and threatened to end her life.
No bond has been sent for Jackson.

A 63-year-old Rome woman is in jail accused of entering a vehicle and stealing nearly $1,700 in Christmas presents.
According to Floyd County Jail reports, the incident occurred at Mount Berry Square Mall on U.S. 27 and the Walmart on Redmond Circle.
Melva Louis Lee of a Callier Springs Road residence is charged with theft by receiving and entering an auto.
She also has a hold from Clayton County.

The GBI is investigating how a 33-year-old Rome man died while in police custody on Nov. 21, but so far no official cause of death has been listed, Deputy Coroner Gene Proctor said.
A woman who was arrested with Kenneth Eugene Russell Carter, 2526 Callier Springs Road, told police he may have swallowed “a large quantity” of methamphetamine during the traffic stop leading up to his arrest, police reported.
Carter’s body has been sent to the state crime lab, Proctor said.
It is standard procedure for the GBI to be called in when someone dies while in police custody, Proctor told the Rome News-Tribune.
According to Rome police reports:
Carter and Latisha Leighann Womack, 25, of 205 Avenue D in Lindale, were arrested in front of a Wheeler Street address after 911 received a call saying a woman wanted by police was seen in Carter’s red Ford Mustang.
Womack later told police Carter likely swallowed the drugs when police pulled them over that afternoon, police reported.
Police arrested them around 2:17 p.m., after police said they found eight pills of suspected hydrocodone, a set of digital scales and a partially smoked joint in the passenger door of the vehicle.
On the way to the jail, Carter complained the handcuffs were hurting his arm. The report states that Carter had an injury to his left arm from a previous car wreck.
Police arrived at the jail’s sally port with Carter at 3:15 p.m., according to Chief Deputy Tom Caldwell of the Sheriff’s Office.
He hadn’t complained of any other issue, the report stated, until they arrived at the jail and he began to convulse and spit up blood. Jail medical staff attended to Carter while EMS was called.
EMS arrived at the jail at 3:28 p.m., according to 911 records.
Carter was sent to Floyd Medical Center by EMS, where he went into cardiac arrest and died, Proctor explained.
He was pronounced dead at Floyd Medical Center at 4:32 p.m. Coroner Barry Henderson said.
Womack was being held in jail without bond Friday on charges of felony probation violation and misdemeanor possession of less than one ounce of marijuana and possession of drug-related objects.
The GBI case investigator was unavailable for comment Friday.

A Griffin man was in jail Saturday on charges of misdemeanor endangering a child by DUI and felony purchase, possession, or having control of synthetic cannabinoid, synthetic marijuana or K2, reports stated.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
Jason Young Duvall, 35, of 212 McIntosh Trail, is also charged with felony probation violation and misdemeanor driving under the influence of drugs and failure to maintain lane. He was arrested Friday at the intersection of Ga. 101 and Saddle Mountain Road.
Duvall was being held without bond Saturday.

The Chattooga County Democratic Party will host their annual dinner coming up Saturday, December 5th. This year's Annual Democratic Dinner will be held at the Chattooga County Ag Center starting at 5 PM with a time of food and fellowship.
Chattooga County Democratic Party Chairman Zach Hughes says that this year's dinner is different from those in the past in that it is totally free, no tickets are required and the public is invited to attend. The local Democratic Party will be giving out the Democrat of the Year Award and other awards at the event.
The speaker for the event will be Valarie Wilson. Ms. Wilson was the Democratic Party's candidate for Georgia School Superintendent in 2014 and remains active in advocating for Georgia's public school students and teachers.

A Rome man was jailed after being arrested on drug charges at the Stay Lodge.
According to Floyd County Jail records Craig Bartholomew Snoddy age 48 of a Dean Avenue address was charged with possession of meth and a probation violation, after his probation officer found him with methamphetamine during a routine check on Wednesday.
