THE TRION MIDDLE SCHOOL BASKETBALL RESULTS FROM SATURDAY’S GAMES AT ROSSVILLE

Trion Varsity Boys defeated Rossville by a score of 49 to 38

Trion Junior Varsity Boys won over Rossville, 41 – 24

Trion Junior Varsity Girls defeated Rossville, 26 – 16

The Trion Junior Varsity Teams will play in a tournament this Saturday (November 28th) at the Rossville Recreation Gym

For the week of Nov.18, 2015 – Nov.23, 2015  Chattooga County Animal Control reports it investigated 12 cases,  Impounded 06 animals, stray animals/Owner Surrenders turned in were 09, returned 01 animal to their owners, adopted 01 animals , 05 animals went to rescue, euthanized 0 dogs, and 03 cats.

Animals that have been picked up or brought to Chattooga County Animal Control may be available for adoption or rescue after a three day holding period, which allows time for owner reclaims.  Chattooga County Animal Control is located off Hwy. 100 at 464 Red Oak Road.  From Summerville, turn left on Red Oak Road  before you get to Georgia Power.  The Center is located at the end of the road on the right.  The adoption fee for male dogs is $75, female dogs $85, male cats $40, and female cats $50.  This includes spay/neuter and rabies shot at the Summerville Veterinary Clinic.  Those people adopting animals who want to use a different veterinarian  must pay a $25 adoption fee and provide proof of spay/neuter within 30 days.   Chattooga Co. Animal Control will be at the  Sum Nelly Event Oct . 03,2015.

The Trion Bulldogs are coming off a win last Friday night against Turner County in which they hammered the opposing team 40-6.  Trion now has a record of eight wins and three losses and will be advancing to the next round of playoffs on Black Friday – the day after Thanksgiving.

Once again this week the Trion Bulldogs will be on the road.  This week the Bulldogs will be traveling to Ocilla, Georgia to take on Irwin County.

Coach Buddy Nobel’s Irwin County Indians have a history of seven wins and five losses in GHSA playoffs.  Trion defeated Irwin County in the last post-season game that was held between the two teams in 2013.

The home field advantage went to the highest seeded team that won their game in the opening round of the playoffs last Friday.  Trion fans traveling to Ocilla can look forward to a nearly 280 mile trip to see the game. 

The game starts at 7:30 PM this Friday and tickets for the game will cost you $12 at the gate in Ocilla. If you can’t make the over four hour trip to the game, you can hear all of the play by play action on AM 1180 Chattooga County Radio with Ben Groce and Jeremy Burke coming up this Friday evening.  You can also listen on SKY 21.5 Television (Charter Cable 184) and you can listen online at www.chattoogainfo.com .  AM 1180’s pregame coverage will begin at 7 PM with the Pre-Game Show.

Last month Menlo Elementary School held its 1st Annual 5K Glow Run on Saturday October 24. The event turned out to be a huge success. There were 100 runners sign up.

Menlo School Receptionist and a member of the event’s organizing team Amanda Larkins stated, “There was a lot of time and hard work put into pulling this event off but well worth it. The school recently started a Health and Wellness Program and this was a great way to get it kicked off. “  She added, “The school would like to say a special thanks to all that helped, there were many teachers, parents, the Chattooga County Sheriff’s office, EMS, Menlo Fire Dept., and Menlo Lions Club. Without your help this event wouldn’t have been the success it was.”

Menlo School is planning more events throughout the school year, including another 5K run in the spring, to involve the community.
