Chattooga County Arrest Report for Tuesday, November 10th

In the Chattooga County Arrest Report – there were no arrests listed by local authorities.

Currently there are 49 inmates housed in the Chattooga County Jail / 20 housed in the Polk County Jail / 37 housed in the Bartow County Jail and two housed at the Rome Youth Detention Center for a total inmate count of 108

Chattooga County Public Works, Sanitation & Transportation Closed on Veteran’s Day

Chattooga County Public Works, Sanitation & Transportation will be closed Wednesday (November 11th) in observance of Veteran’s Day.

The Transfer Station on Stockade Road and all remote dump sites will remain open.

Body Parts May Have Been in Floyd County Several Years

Body parts found near the Floyd/Gordon County line Friday – could have been there five to seven years and it could take months to identify the remains, according to the Floyd County Deputy Coroner Gene Proctor.

The remains are likely to be sent to a lab in Texas that specializes in regenerative DNA, he said. It could take about six months to get the results.

A hunter found a skull and femur on Kirby Road on Friday morning.

Major Mark Wallace of the Floyd County Police Department said investigators will be looking at open missing person cases in Gordon and Floyd County, since the area where the remains were found was very close to the county line.

Kirby Road is off Autry Road which is off Ga. 53 in northern Floyd County.

Teen Charged with Shooting 14 Year Old Girl

A 19-year-old Rome man stands charged with aggravated assault after he allegedly shot a 14-year-old girl in the head early Sunday morning.                    

According to Floyd County Jail reports, Deshawn Ronnell Gordon of 101 Cherokee Street is accused of shooting the female after an incident that happened around 1 a.m.

Gordon and the victim have a child together, according to the report.   

Officials said the victim was airlifted to an area hospital. Her condition is not known at this time.

Gordon is charged with aggravated assault, false imprisonment, possession of a firearm, aggravated battery, and giving a false name and date of birth to law enforcement officers.

Man Arrested in Connection with Truck Crashing into House Accident

A 20 year old Floyd County man, has been arrested in connection with the weekend wreck,   that sent a truck crashing into a home in the 4200 block of Alabama Highway.

The truck barreled into the house early Sunday morning, going into a child's bedroom, very nearly hitting the youngster's bed. 

Fortunately, no one was hurt inside the home – and both the driver of the truck and a passenger in the vehicle escaped injury as well.

According to Floyd County Jail reports Jordan Blake Reeves had been under the influence of Marijuana at the time the accident occurred; he addition to the drug charge, he was charged with Failure to Maintain Lane and DUI. Reeves was found with a small amount of marijuana in his possession at the scene of the wreck.
