A woman has been arrested for allegedly going into a residence in September and stealing items.
According to an arrest warrant at the Floyd County Jail, 38-year-old Heather Maria Williams of a Simpson Drive address in Rome went into a Bert Road residence and took several items, including power tools, a toolbox with tools inside and a window air conditioning unit.
The total value of the items taken is $800.
Williams was charged with first degree burglary and theft by deception.
She was jailed on a $7,900 bond.

Three people have been arrested on drug charges by the Rome-Floyd Metro Task Force.
Task Force officers found a glass smoking pipe with suspected methamphetamine residue, narcotics, marijuana, plastic bags and digital scales in a bedroom of a Burr Drive address in Rome shared by 25-year-old Benjamin David Highsmith, 22-year-old Sherry Marie Brooks and 54-year-old Ricky Huether.
The trio stands charged with possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug related objects.
Brooks and Highsmith are additionally charged with possession of a Schedule II controlled substance, possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute, and possession of less than an ounce of marijuana.
Highsmith is also charged with fugitive from justice and remains in jail without bond.
Brooks and Huether were released on bond.

Chattanooga woman who was arrested for allegedly shoplifting at the LaFayette Walmart had several driver’s licenses.
According to LaFayette Police Department reports:
Denise Tia Thomas, 32, was witnessed by the Walmart loss prevention officer selecting expensive cookware items and appliances and trying to exit through the general merchandise door without paying for the items.
When confronted, Thomas gave the employee a driver’s license claiming it was hers, but which was actually her sister’s.
When police arrived, they located several other licenses in her purse that did not belong to Thomas. This led police to believe Thomas was part of a shoplifting ring.
Thomas was banned from all Walmart stores in December 2014 and had signed paperwork agreeing to her ban.
Once Thomas’ identity was revealed, she was arrested along with a friend in the store, Shameca Lashon Burt, 39, of Chattanooga, who had an active warrant in Fulton County.
Thomas was charged with criminal trespassing and misdemeanor shoplifting.
Burt was charged with failure to appear.

Great weather helped make an important event very successful on Saturday.
We spoke with Chattooga County Sheriff Mark Schrader during the Child Safety Seat Inspection held in the local Walmart parking lot, and he told us that they looked to be on track to meet or beat last year’s turnout.
The Chattooga County Sheriff’s Office, Georgia State Patrol and Walmart teamed up to offer important information regarding car seat safety, including proper installation and some little known but extremely important facts regarding the car seats themselves.
Sheriff Schrader wishes to thank all those who attended the event Saturday and all those who came together to make that instructional demonstration possible

A Cave Spring man has been arrested on burglary charges.
According to an arrest warrant at the Floyd County Jail – 57 year old Glen Easterwood of 1470 Lyons Bridge Road went into another residence on the same road two different times without permission on October 14th
Easterwood allegedly went into the residence the first time during the afternoon opening drawers and cabinets. The second time Easterwood allegedly went in was around 7:00pm, and he was carrying a bag as he continued to go through drawers and cabinets in the home.
Much to his surprise, both incidents were caught on surveillance video, which quickly led to Easterwood’s arrest on a charge of Burglary 1st Degree.
He was booked into the Floyd County Jail with bond set at $7,900.

Counterfeit money has once again turned up in Chattooga County.
Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to the Summerville Chevron, on Highway 27, early Wednesday morning in response to a report of forgery being filed.
The complainant said sometime between 1:00 and 11:00pm the previous day a counterfeit $20 bill was passed and wasn’t noticed until after closing hours.
The phony bill was taken into evidence – and the matter is currently under investigation by the Chattooga County Sheriff’s Office.
