A Rome woman remained in jail Sunday night after she allegedly poured bleach and gasoline on her husband’s clothes Saturday evening, according to a Floyd County Jail report.
According to the report:
Anita Gay Selman, 45, of 330 Tolbert St., was charged with a felony count of criminal damage to property in the second degree for causing the estimated $600 in damage to the clothes.
She was being held without bond.

The Mentone Area Arts Council will host its Sixth Annual Tour of Historic Homes and Places and silent auction Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. CST.
The event will begin at the town hall in Mentone on Lookout Mountain, where tickets will be sold and the silent auction held. Homes and places toured will be in the Mentone, Ala., Cloudland and Mentone areas.
It will include homes and churches, camps, and several turn of the century buildings with guides dressed in period costumes.
Many houses were built as summer homes, cool mountain retreats from the summer heat of Birmingham and Atlanta, with some overlooking the brow to the valley below.

A Chattooga County woman facing charges after an altercation at McDonalds.
According to the report, Chattooga County Sheriff's Deputies were dispatched to a fight in progress at McDonalds Friday night. Once they arrived, 39-year-old Jennifer Michelle Lesperance told them she had gotten into a physical altercation with her daughter over rent money.
The woman's daughter said her mother hit her in the face and pushed her down to the ground and got on top of her. The daughter said she told her mother they would settle the issue over the phone but she came up there anyway. The incident reportedly occurred near the drive thru. Witnesses reportedly conveyed the same story, according to the report.
The report indicated that the daughter had red marks around her neck and her inner lip was busted and bleeding. The deputy reported that text messages on Lesperance's phone from her daughter verified the daughter's account .
Lesperance was taken to the Chattooga County Jail charged with disorderly conduct.
A driver found out Saturday night that running a stop sign because "everyone runs that stop sign" is not a defense with Chattooga County Sheriff's deputies.
According to the report, Deputy Brock Campbell observed a white Ford Escape traveling South bound on Mahan Road run a stop sign at the intersection of Mahan and Hair Lake Road and make a left hand turn onto Hair Lake Road after going all the way up the driveway and stopping at a residence. The incident happened just before 11 p.m.
According to the report, the driver, Peggy Catherine Mitchell, exited the vehicle and appeared to be walking to the residence when the sheriff's vehicle stopped behind her vehicle. The report indicated that it looked as though 54-year-old Mitchell was trying to avoid the deputy and trying to hide something.
The deputy asked her to return to her vehicle and when she did she told him that "everybody runs that stoop sign and she was coming from the Memorial Home. Mitchell reportedly smelled strongly of alcohol and displayed other signs of impairment such as slurred speech and blood shot eyes.
When asked to step back with him to his patrol car, Campbell reported that he noticed she had trouble walking "straight and normal. When asked if she would provide a breath sample, she asked why it was necessary since she was "already home" and refused the test. She also refused to take a breath test at the Chattooga County Jail. Mitchell was charged with DUI/alcohol and failure to stop at a stop sign.
A Chattooga County man involved in a traffic accident Sunday first told deputies he had only had two tablespoons of Nyquil after he was questioned as to why he smelled of alcohol.
The two-vehicle accident occurred at about 8:30 p.m. in the 300 block of Unity Church Road, Summerville. Buford Daniel Wilcox wasn't actually involved in the accident, according to the report, but allegedly drove there, since his son was one of the driver's involved. There reportedly were other indications that Wilcox, of Mentone, Ala., had been drinking. He reportedly failed the breath test. Wilcox was arrested and confessed to deputies that along with the Nyquil, he had one 32 ounce beer. He was charged with DUI/alcohol.
The Walker County School System plans to save money with fewer teachers.
The board of Education recently voted to maintain a waver for class size requirements. The waiver was extended from the current school year.
In first through third grades, the state standard is 21 students per classroom. But, with the waiver, Walker County classes can have up to 29 students.
Fourth through fifth grade classes can have up to 36 students per classroom with the waiver in place.
The waiver affects the budget by allowing the system to assign fewer teaches per number of students in the system. As in most organizations, payroll is among the top expenditure in the school system's budget.
Walker County now joins several surrounding counties in getting its own drug drop box.
The Georgia Council on Alcohol and Drugs provided the prescription drug drop box. It is located in the lobby of the sheriff's office, just behind the courthouse in Lafayette.
It is accessible, 24 hours a day, and Walker County residents can dispose of expired or unused prescription medications for proper disposal, including pet medications.
The Chattooga County Sheriff's Office also recently added a drug drop box for the same purpose that is available to all Chattooga County residents.
The cost of gas has continued its freefall within the last week and experts believe the drop is likely to last until the start of the busy summer travel season.
AAA-South released the organizations’ weekly gas report late Sunday night and the data shows a small drop in the national average to $3.52 per gallon, down about a penny. The price is roughly $0.17 lower than it was a month ago in the U.S. Georgia has seen a much more dramatic reduction in regular unleaded fuel cost this week with the statewide average currently $3.34, down six cents.
As is typically the case, gas prices in Northwest Georgia are lower than both the state and nationwide averages this week. The cheapest fuel in the region can be found in Calhoun, Dalton and Cartersville for about $3.16 per gallon, while regular unleaded is currently highest in Rome at $3.38 and Summerville at $3.35.
