The Mentone Area Arts Council will host its Sixth Annual Tour of Historic Homes and Places and silent auction Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. CST.

The event will begin at the town hall in Mentone on Lookout Mountain, where tickets will be sold and the silent auction held. Homes and places toured will be in the Mentone, Ala., Cloudland and Mentone areas. 

It will include homes and churches, camps, and several turn of the century buildings with guides dressed in period costumes.

Many houses were built as summer homes, cool mountain retreats from the summer heat of Birmingham and Atlanta, with some overlooking the brow to the valley below.

Tickets are $ for MAAC members and $12.50 for non members. Tickets are good for both days and maps will be provided. For more information call 256-276-8422 or 205-919-0908.
