Trion United Methodist Church will be cooking Brunswick Stew cooking Saturday, March 2.
The cost is still $6 per quart. And they usually make a little extra if you would like to come to the Trion United Methodist Church fellowship hall. It is usually ready between 10:30 and 11:00 a.m. Someone will be there until 1:00 p.m.
It's the church's last cooking until Saturday, October 5, 2013. They appreciate everyone that has supported their stew project over the years and hope to see you March 2 and October 5.
A Chattooga County Church was vandalized over the weekend.
Chief Deputy Kevin Woods, of the Chattooga County Sheriff's Department, told AM1180 that the vandalism at tFour Mile Baptist Church was discovered Sunday morning.
A church member arrived at the church on Wildlife Lake Road to find beer bottles strewn around the parking lot. Also, four of the church windows and one window in the church fellowship hall was broken by beer bottles.
Sheriff's Department investigators are looking into the vandalism in hopes of finding those involved.
Two local men are facing drug and other charges after being found allegedly removing scrap metal from property they are accused of trespassing on.
According to the Chattooga County Sheriff's Department report, officers were told on February 19, that two men were taking property off land on Butler Dairy Road. Officers reportedly found 30-year-old Scott Douglas Payne and 36-year-old Roger Dale Galloway, Jr. with items in their hands they dropped when they saw deputies. Payne and Galloway, both of the same Sloppy Floyd Lake Road address, told officers said they were getting scrap metal, and they didn't have permission to do so.
The complainant, told deputies that the men had taken a tree stand and were getting ready to take another tree stand. The report indicates that the men admitted to taking the tree stand back to their residence. It was later recovered by investigators.
Upon searching the vehicle the men drove to the ares, officers found: a clear glass pike with a bubble on the end with residue, wrapped in toilet paper. The residue in the pipe reportedly field tested positive for methamphetamine.
Payne and Galloway were both charged with felony possession of methamphetamine; criminal trespass; possession and use of drug related objects; theft by taking; possession of dangerous drugs; possession of narcotic equipment; invasion of privacy; and theft/larceny.
The Georgia Department of Corrections wants to charge the Chattanooga Times Free Press for records related to Hays State Prison in Pennville.
The newspaper reported the DOC is seeking $16,772 in an editorial that ran on Sunday. The newspaper has been reporting on four inmate deaths there in six weeks.
The editorial states, "our readers — who are taxpayers and voters — deserve to know what went wrong at Hays State….on a larger scale, the public has the right to know how its government is functioning — or not.

A federal judge is temporarily preventing Georgia's governor from replacing DeKalb County school board members who were recommended for suspension by the state Board of Education.
Gov. Nathan Deal had scheduled a news conference for 11 a.m. Monday to announce whether he would follow the recommendation to suspend 6 of the nine board members. WSB-TV reports that the order from U.S. District Judge Richard Story doesn't restrain the governor from suspending board members, but it enjoins him from implementing any decision pending a court hearing Friday.
The judge's ruling was in response to a request from the DeKalb County school board. The school board is challenging the Georgia law that allows the governor to suspend board members at the recommendation of the state Board of Education.
