Lobbyists have spent less money on Georgia's state senators in the first month after a new rule imposed limits.
Still, it remains unclear whether the rule alone is responsible for the decrease.
An analysis of financial reports by The Associated Press shows that lobbyists spent roughly $91,300 on Senate lawmakers in the month since the rule passed Jan. 14. That's a decrease of about 35% from the same period a year earlier.
The Senate adopted the rule this year to prohibit members from receiving lobbyist gifts worth more than $100. But the rule left several loopholes, including junkets tied to lawmakers' official duties and events where all state legislators or members of committees or caucuses are invited.

The goal $250,000 all for the Alzheimer's Association.
He said he doesn't know what, or who is ahead. He said he hopes that the money he raises will help those who battle alzhiemers to one day remember. He said he doesn't know anyone in the state's he's going through and doesn't know what's going to happen, But he'll get there and he has faith it's going to be happy.
He says he hopes his dad is watching and is proud.

Lafayette's fire chief has confirmed that the fire at the former Quality Carpet Cushion Plant on Thursday was the work of an arsonist. The building is on West McCarter Road just behind Jackson Chevrolet.
The State Fire Marshal's Office investigated Friday morning and confirmed that someone started the blaze in the office area of the building. The remainder of the building was destroyed in a 2008 fire and the plant has been idle since.
During the mid-afternoon call, firefighters were retrieved from the building when the roof collapsed. No one was injured.
It may be as soon as mid-March for some Floyd County Schools employees to know which school they’ll be reassigned to next year.
Floyd County Superintendent Jeff McDaniel sent an email on Friday to staff who will remain in the ranks after the school system’s Reduction In Force.
The reassignment timeline shows those continuing to serve as assistant principals, counselors and media center personnel will know of their reassignments by March 18.
Those holding fine arts positions “in our small elementary schools” will be notified of their reassignments by April 22, the email read. Those being reassigned to the classroom from an administrative, counseling or media position — and all other teacher reassignments — will be determined by May 15.
McDaniel said in his email that the timeline was estimated but he felt it was essential to let personnel know as soon as possible, given the highly anxious environment within the schools.

A sergeant with the Ringgold Police Department ffired last week has been linked to an incident between an FBI agent, the estranged wife of a Ringgold millionaire.
In late October 2012, Sgt. Tom Evans allegedly drove to the Acoustic Cafe to check on a report of a drunken driver. There he reportedly found FBI Special Agent Ken Hillman with Angela Russell, the estranged wife of millionaire, and Ringgold businessman Emerson Russell, and their daughter Katherine. The three were trying to drive away from the nightspot on RBC Drive.
Records indicate at least one of the three had been refused drinks after dancing and weaving through the live music cafe making a scene, and they all appeared drunk.
Evans reportedly left his post in Ringgold and drove the three out of state to Chattanooga. According to a Ringgold Police Department internal investigation, when Katherine Russell needed a ride back to Ringgold, she said Evans requested that she flash her breasts.
Ringgold Police Chief Dan Bilbrey said Evans was not investigated for doing a favor for an FBI agent, but for breaking departmental policy and leaving his post.
Hillman, the FBI agent, who leads the Northwest Georgia Crimes Against Children Task Force, reportedly is under investigation himself by the FBI.
Mohawk announced on Thursday that the Calhoun carpet giant reported that their profit jumped to $251 million last year. The company said sales were at $5.78 billion, up 3 percent. The total net income was listed at $251 million, up 41 percent.

Camp, 55, of 103 Rudy St., is charged with four counts of misdemeanor theft by receiving stolen property, two counts of misdemeanor criminal trespass, five counts of misdemeanor theft by taking (from an automobile), four counts of felony entering an automobile with the intent to commit a theft or felony, and one count of felony theft by taking.
According to the reports, in four separate thefts occurring from Oct. 27 to Nov. 7, Camp took saws, a tool box full of tools, power tools, jumper cables, an air mattress and an air mattress inflator.
Camp also is accused of breaking into a truck owned by the City of Rome water department on Nov. 26, 2012, and taking a saw and drill from the bed of the truck while the driver was waiting for lumber at Home Depot.
“He’s a suspect in another six to seven cases,” Sailors said. “He has tried to sell some of the items on the street.”
