A Chattooga County Man was arrested Sunday, Dec. 16, after he reportedly came home drunk and his wife pushed him out of the house. According to the Sheriff's Department report, 24-year-old Corey Culberson , of a Railroad Circle Address, came home intoxicated. After being pushed back out the door by his wife,  he reportedly walked into a field behind the home to calm down. That apparently didn't work, the report indicated. When Culberson returned home and started arguing with his wife. Culberson reportedly was very loud and using profane language after officers arrived though he was repeatedly told to calm down and lower his voice. When Culberson failed to do so, he was arrested and chatged with disorderly conduct, according to the report.

A woman allegedly paid a man $10 and two pills to steal a neighbor's screen door. According to the report by the Chattooga County Sheriff's Office, the incident occurred December 12 at Maplewood Apartments on Maplewood Drive. According to the report, witness said the apartment was entered after the door was pried open using a plastic card. According to Sheriff's Department captain Ken Anderson, he took the door from one apartment and left it on the patio of another apartment. 

At a media event at Dalton State College, area representatives said the state budget will be their biggest challenge when the Georgia General Assembly convenes in January. Revenue reportedly is growing at a slow pace, and federal aid is uncertain. Plus, the impact of the new Health Care Law is an unknown, at this point. The state's revenue is up slightly from the same period in 2011 , but is still below pre-recession levels. Lawmakers are also likely to tackle ethics reform this session. Georgia voters overwhelminly supported a limit on gifts from lobbyists to elected officials in a question on the July Primary ballots. State Representative Jay Neal, of Lafayette, said they have to be careful about how they change the law, so that whatever giving is allowed is still "transparent." Current law places no limit on lobbyist gifts to legislators, but requires that they be reportd.

The owner-pilot died in the crash of a small, home-built single-engine aircraft near Calhoun Tuesday. Federal Aviation Administration investigators say the craft crashed in the woods after department from a Gordon County Airport around 2 p.m. The pilot, 77-year-old Roy Gardner Russom, was the the only one onboard. Friends at the airport said he'd been working on building small craft for the past three to four years. The plane burst into flames on impact and was destroyed.

A Trion man who says he stayed at the Carousel Inn, in Trion, in July says someone got access to his SSI debit card and used it throughout the month of July. Paul Elrod, of a Marsh Avenue, Trion address, told Chattooga County Sheriff's deputies that he activated his card while at the motel and asked a visitor to his room to get his social security card for him so he could give the last four digits over the phone and get a PIN number. He said there was only that person and one other in the room at the time. Which means both of those people would have known his PIN number. The report indicates that $9,300 was debited from the card. The incident was turned over to investigators.

We all look forward to a Christmas visitor during the night but not one that's intoxicated,  gets their truck stuck in our yard and wakes up the neighborhood; however, that's apparently what happened in Lyerly Monday night. 

All was seemingly well at a Oak Hill Road Lyerly neighborhood Monday night until a couple  turned up in a pickup truck and the allegedly intoxicated woman ended up on the porch with residents until police arrived. According to the report by the Chattooga County Sheriff's office, the incident occurred a little before 10:30 Monday night. Initially it was reported to E-911 that a male and female had pulled into the Oak Hill Road, Lyerly yard of  Milo Bell, and were yelling for Bell to come outside. It was also initially reported that there was some type of weapon at the scene. When deputies arrived they found the  truck was stuck in the yard and a woman sitting on the porch of Milo Bell's home with William and Elsie Bell, who reportedly live next door.

The woman, Robbie Bradley, of Centre, Al., reportedly smelled of alcohol and reportedly was unable to speak in complete sentences, according to the report. The woman told deputies her father had been in the truck with her but he had left. Milo Bell told officers that he had gone out with Bradley several months ago, but was unaware as to why she was at his home that night.  It was also reported that while officers spoke  to Milo Bell, Bradley became very loud and and was using profane language in the presence of a juvenile. 

William and Elsie Bell said that had seen Bradley somewhere before, but didn't know her.  William Bell said, he'd been sleeping good until she had woken him up. Forty-five year-old Bradley was arrested for public drunkenness and disorderly conduct.

A wrecker was called to move the truck from the yard.  According to the report, there is no indication that there was any type of weapon involved, contrary to the initial report to E-911. The man who had allegedly arrived with Bradley was not found, according to the report.

Warrents have reportedly been taken out on a Cloudland man on charges of invasion of privacy and criminal trespass.

According to the report by the Chattooga County Sheriff's Department, 31-year-old Anthony Green of an Alabama Avenue, Cloudland address is accused of showing up at the O'Neill Road, Trion, home of Crystal Dawn Bates on Monday and causing a disturbance.

According to the report,  a woman said Anthony came to the front door and asked for a wallet he had left a few months back when unloading firewood at the residence. When the woman went into Bate's bedroom where Bates was sleeping, Anthony reportedly followed her. He is alleged to have entered the bedroom and pulled back the covers of the sleeping Bates, and began screaming profanity. He is then alleged to have grabbed the woman's phone and  is accused of throwing it into the window, smashing the phone.  

Officers were unable to find Anthony, but warrants were taken out for his arrest, according to the report. .

A Calhoun woman was booked into the Floyd County Jail on Tuesday on drug charges stemming from a warrant that said she had more than 28 grams of methamphetamine on her, according to a Floyd County Jail report.

According to the report:

Viola Elizabeth Rendon, 43, of 161 Porch Loop Road, was found with the drugs in August while at the intersection of Ga. 53 and Ga. 140.

She was charged with felony trafficking in methamphetamine and has an immigration hold.

District attorney's officials in northwestern Georgia say a former college professor charged with rape and child molestation abandoned a plan to plead guilty and decided to take the case to trial.

The Daily Citizen of Dalton Wednesday reported Monte Gale Salyer, former English professor at Dalton State College, faces two counts of rape, one count of statutory rape, three counts of child molestation, five counts of aggravated child molestation and one count of criminal attempt to commit a felony.

District attorney's officials say they negotiated a plea deal with Salyer and he backed out of the deal minutes before a hearing. It was not clear why Salyer reneged on the plea deal, and a call to his attorney was not immediately returned.

Salyer's trial is set for Jan. 7.
