Summerville's annual Christmas Parade is Monday along Commerce Street in Downtown Summerville. So far there are only about 20 floats signed up. But that is the norm according to the Summerville Recreation Department, which is in charge of the parade. Most participants don't sign up until the last minute. Normally floats and participating groups in the parade total about 50. This year's theme is A Storybook Christmas. So far participants include both area high school bands and all area firemen. Also parading downtown this year will be Trion High school's three-time state champion  competition cheerleaders, and, of course, Santa Clause. Registration is $25 and you can register to participate at the Summerville Recreation Department. Participants will line up at the Chattooga High School Parking lot at 5 p.m. on Monday.

The Chattooga High School Chorus will make their annual pilgrimage to the Sardis Baptist Church, 

this Sunday, December 2nd, at 7pm. 

The Chorus's mix of Christmas and Holiday Carols always ring in the Christmas Season for the 

Chattoogaville Community.

The Pastor, Dewayne Teague, along with the entire Sardis congregation, cordially invite everyone 

out for a night of Christmas Carols and great fellowship. light refreshments will be served after the

The Chattooga County Navigator Team, a project of Parent to Parent of Georgia is sponsoring its 5th Annual Pictures With Santa for special needs children, young adults, and their siblings, and/or friends. The event is 2-4 p.m. December 8 at SonRise Community Church, formerly Summerville Presbyterian Church, 141 W. Washington Street., Summerville. You can have your picture made with Santa, make a Christmas craft, and receive a Christmas stocking with goodies.  Prices are: $7 for a 5X7 and four wallets; $12 for an 8X10, a 5X7, and four wallets; and $15 for one disc with copyright. A Burglary was reported at a Lyerly Home last week. According to the report by the Chattooga County Sheriff's Office the home on Hammond Street was in foreclosure and the incident was reorted by a representative for the company hired to oversee the property. The report indicates that psliding glass doors in the home had been broken and someone had been inside the home. Listed as taken were several windows, and doors, with copper pipes taken from the kitchen and bathrooms, and walls damaged. The incident was turned over to investigators, according to the report. 

Property damage was reported at the Trion Walmart last week. According to the Sheriff's Department report, it was reported last Wednesday that a retention pond fence was damaged by someone. Loss Prevention employee Johnny Smith showed the deputy the damaged fence located across from the Garden Center. According to the report, the metal posts had been pulled from the ground. The deputy and Smith saw  a large blue tractor with several men in the parking lot near some equipment.  One man reportedly owned a farm and the other were his employees. The men said they would repair the damaged fence, which was damaged by a man on the tractor, according to the report. There was no value on the repair costs on the report.

A Menlo man was arrested the day before Thanksgiving charged with interfering with the making of a call to 911. According to the report, a deputy was dispatched to the Highway 337 Menlo home of Melody and William Parker. According to the report, Melody Parker told the deputy the two are legally separated. William Parker was to take the couple's five-year-old son to a Lafayette restaurant. An argument reportedly took place while William Parker was at the home to get the child.  When Melody Parker attempted to call 911 from the home phone, William Parker allegedly grabbed the phone and threw it into the kitchen, busting it. Melody Parker then called 911 from her cell phone. William Parker was arrested and taken to the Chattooga County Jail for hindering the initial call attempt.

Georgia law enforcement authorities say nine fatality crashes occurred in the state during the recent Thanksgiving Holiday travel period. Department of Public Safety spokesman Gordy Wright reported the numbers early Monday after the 102 hour Thanksgiving Holiday travel period ended at midnight. State Troopers say they investigated a total of 622 crashes between 6 p.m. Wednesday and late Sunday night. These wrecks resulted in 263 injuries. Authorities say alcohol is suspected as a contributing factor in four of the traffic deaths investigated by troopers. 

Floyd County firemen spend much of the weekend dousing woods and grass fires in the Floyd County area. Dry weather is sited as the culprit in the fires scattered around the county. Fires were reported at Shannon, off Highway 140 and off Blacks Bluff Road. No structures were damaged and no injuries were reported. Burning leaves is a possible cause of some of the fires.
