A Trion couple reported that their property had been burglarized on Thanksgiving Day. According to the Sheriff's Department report, Teresa and Gerard Espinoza told the deputy that while they were shopping at Walmart they were told by a neighbor that he had seen a white Dodge pick-up leave their property which had been empty for about 18 months. The couple said they went to the North Ridge Estates address to check and found the hasp on the front door had been damaged. They also said they found missing: a refrigerator, washer and dryer, a gas log heater and pictures. The couple gave an estimated value of the stolen items at $1800. They also gave the name of a possible suspect. The burglary was turned over to investigators.
A Summerville woman reported to the Chattooga County Sheriff's Department that her home was burglarized while she was at church Sunday. According to the report, the Lyerly Street resident said she left for church around 9:20 a.m. Sunday and when she returned home around 12:20 p.m. she noticed the side door window had been busted. According to the report, the items stolen were valued at about $300. Fingerprints were found on the glass side door and on the tv in the living room. The incident was turned over to investigators.
Warrants are to be taken out on a Summerville woman after she allegedly lied to a Chattooga County Sheriff's Deputy and was drunk on a local roadway. That according to a Chattooga County Sheriff's Office report filed by deputy Corey Fielding. According to the report, the incident began at the B&B Market on Ridgeway Drive, Friday night.
The report indicates that the clerk refused to sell alcohol to a man because his ID was damaged and appeared to be fake. The man reportedly got angry and kicked the store door open and left in an older model Chevrolet Z71. A woman with him reportedly left on foot. According to the report, a deputy found a woman walking along Old Highway 27. She told the deputy that she had been in the store but didn't know the man who caused the disturbance. Tarah East, of a March Avenue, Summerville address, reportedly smelled of alcohol and tested .117 on the alco-sensor, according to the report. The told her he was not arresting her because she had caused no problems. When he went back to the market, the deputy reportedly spoke with an employee and the store's owner and found out that East did in fact now the man and was actually his girlfriend.
According to the report, the Sheriff's Department is to take out warrants on 22-year-old East for public drunk for being under the influence of alcohol while on a public roadway and false statements due to the fact she had lied about knowing the man involved in the disturbance and his whereabouts.
A Summerville woman recently reported the theft of her identity to the Chattooga County Sheriff's Department. The report was made on November 14, but just received by AM1180 on Monday. According to the report the woman, of a Highway 337 address, told deputies that she want to the Rent-A-Center in Summerville to open an account, but was told by a store employee, that a woman using her name and social security number had opened an account in Spartanburg, South Carolina. There was no other information on the report.
A Lafayette teenager will be tried as an adult on felony child molestation charges. Police identify the suspect as 16-year-old Scott Kenneth Winebrinner. Winebrinner is a resident of Lafayette's Reading Circle Public Housing complex.
A Fort Oglethorpe City Council member was to have faced a hearing on sexual harrassment charges Tuesday. . Charles Sharrack has been accused for a third time of hugging and/or kissing female employees of the city.
Lafayette's Roper plant will be looking for part time workers at a job fair on Friday. They're accepting applications for temporary production operators at the Bank of Lafayette Community Room from noon until 5 p.m. on November 30.
