An attempted burglary was reported at a Haywood Valley, Trion, home over the weekend. According to the report, a woman said she went to the home to visit her grandparents on Saturday and when she pulled into the driveway there was a faded brown Grand Jeep Cherokee in the driveway with an Alabama license plate. A woman in the driver's seat of the vehicle said, TJ had paid her to drive him there so he could find out about someone getting out of jail. The woman reportedly was told to leave and the girl said she then saw two males fleeing the residence and going into the woods. The males are described as white and young, according to the report. all three suspects reportedly were heavy set. Nothing was reported missing from the residence.
The Friends of Sloppy Floyd State Park are meeting Tuesday evening. The meeting will focus on new officers for next year. everyone is invited. The meeting is at 6:30 p.m. in Cabin #2.

There's good news if you plan to do any traveling between now and Christmas.
According to experts, barring any major events in the Middle East, gasoline prices are expected to continue to go down through December. In the last 30 days, Georgia has seen a large drop in prices at the pump, going from an average of $3.60 a gallon to the current average of $3.23.
Locally, in Chattooga County gas is ranging from a high of $3.29 to a low of $3.22. In nearby Rome, gas is averaging $3.19 to $3.29 a gallon. In Chattanooga, a gallon of unleaded gasoline is averaging just a few cents over $3 a gallon.
Though gasoline prices will most likely reach somewhere between $3.05 and $3.10 a gallon in Georgia by Christmas. The rate of price decrease is not expected to be as drastic as it has been the past month.
Because Georgia is a beneficiary of Gulf Coast refineries, which have recently been operating at 91 percent capacity, the state has experienced a drop in gas prices and a per gallon price that is lower than the national average.
The national average right now is $3.43 per gallon.
Calhoun`s Colormaster, carpet dyeing facility, has been sold to Chattanooga based Dixie Group Inc. The cost of the sale was not disclosed. The plant is 200,000 square foot and employees close to 60 people.
A burglary on Adams Road was reported to the Chattooga County Sheriff's Office on Thursday. According to the report, Stanley Gray told deputies that when he arrived home at about 7:30 that evening he noticed his front door had been kicked open. The deputy noted on the report that it appeared that the door had been kicked in from the outside. No other damage and no missing items were found however. According to the report, extra patrol in the area was requested for the remainder of the week
An outgoing State Court judge in Walker County has filed suit making a claim for more than $70,000 in salary. The suit filed by Judge Bruce Roberts names County Commissioner Bebe Heiskell, claiming she "arbitrarily set" his salary at $100,000 per year. Roberts was appointed by the Governor to fill the term of retired Judge Donald Peppers, who was making more than $172,000. The suit claims that as an incumbent, Roberts should have received the same pay as his predecessor, even though Pepper's was in office for 25 years. Heiskell said the negotiated the salary with Roberts when he was appointed, offering him far more than the minimum $60,000 per year, so that he would not be taking a pay cut in the judicial position. Roberts was defeated in his bid for re-election by Billy Mullinax, who takes office in January.
A Lafayette couple have been charged with stealing from their employer, Walmart in Ft. Oglethorpe. Both 17-year-old David Jacob Henegar and 20-year-old Cherish Rebekah Townsend reportedly worked at the Fort Oglethorpe Walmart. They were arrested last Sunday and charged with theft. The couple, who list a Highway 151, LaFayette, address, were reportedly observed by other employees who told police that Henegar took electronic tablets from lay-a-way and gave them to Townsend to put in her purse. In all, they are accused of taking almost $1200 in merchandise from the store. Henegar reportedly told police he was raising money for his girlfriend to hire a lawyer to regain custody of a child.
A benefit singing will be held Saturday night (Nov. 17) at the Armuchee Valley Community Center at Villanow. Singers include the Gospel Soul Seekers, Forgiven, and Right Path. There also will be chili and soup, and a cake auction. All proceeds will go to the medical expenses of the Beason family. The singing is from 6-9 p.m. at the Villanow Community Center on Highway 136.
The Walker County Foster and Adoptive Parents Association will host a Harvest Jubilee at the Walker County Ag Center Saturday (Nov. 17). Singers include Chris McDaniel, Vince Stalling, Steve and the Next of Kin, and the Cowboy Church Dancers. There will be inflatables for children, a karaoke competition and food vendors. It's from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. November 17, at the Walker County Ag Center, behind the Civic Center at Rock Spring.
