The owner of a Walker County horseshoeing school is facing simple battery charges filed by two female students. Also, a third student has taken accusations to the Non-Public Post Secondary Education Commission, that oversees such businesses. One young student at the Villanow Horseshoeing School said Ralph Casey hit her three times. Another claims he knocked on her door at 1 a.m. using sexually charged language. A third, reportedly left the school early and demanded a refund, due to alleged mistreatment. Casey denies the charges but had told reporters he won't be accepting any more female students under age 21.
It's National Farm-City Week, a time to celebrate the partnership between farmers and their urban partners in providing food and fiber all across America. Georgia farmers lead the nation in producing broilers, peanuts and pecans, and also provide large quantities of beef, timber, cotton, eggs, dairy, fruits and vegetables. Georgia's food and fiber system had sales of $107 billion in 2012, ranking it first among the state's economic sectors.
The Georgia Department of Agriculture is now taking applications for the Georgia Agriculture Tax Exemption, or GATE. GATE was recently created by the Georgia Legislature and offers qualified agriculture producers a sales tax exemption on equipment and production inputs, including energy used in production of agriculture products. The program will replace the Ag Certicicate Exemption Form, effective January 1. Lyerly United Methodist Church will be host to the Chattooga High School Chorus and Ensemble on December 5. The emsemble will perform a variety of solos, duets and more, beginning at 7 p.m., accompanied by Dr. Jay McNeal, pianist, and led by chorus director Jason Hall. A warrant reportedly will be taken out on a Summerville man after he allegedly made terroristic threats against his ex-girlfriend and shot a gun in her yard. That according to a report by the Chattooga County Sheriff's Department. According to the report, the ex-girfriend said the 20-year-old man came to her Highway 114 home just before midnight on Tuesday. He was asked to leave and not come back, but he returned again. While leaving the second time, the man allegedly fired a gun into the air while sitting in his vehicle. Later, he telephoned the 17-year-old ex-girlfriend and said he would kill everyone on the house. There reportedly was a witness to the incident, according to the report.

A West Armuchee Road woman reported to Chattooga County Sheriff'e deputies that a check was stolen from her mailbox sometime between Tuesday and Friday of last week. According to the report, the woman said she put a personal check in the amount of $324 in her mailbox in the front of her home. She said she contacted the mail carrier that told her there was nothing in her mailbox. Investigators were contacted.
Chattooga County Sheriff's Deputies Friday arrested a local woman after a domestic disturbance. According to the report, officers found several people arguing in the driveway at a Carol Drive address, and one woman reportedly was cursing two other people just after 5 p.m.. According to the report, it began in the roadway at the intersection of Back Penn Road and Memorial Drive. The report indicates Tammy Ann Striker's ex-boyfriend and two women riding in a Blazer when Striker allegedly passed the Blazer in her vehicle and then stopped in the road. She is reported to have jumped out of her vehicle and tried to open the door of the Blazer. The people in the Blazer said they went around Striker's vehicle and continued to their residence. Striker reportedly followed the vehicle and once it was stopped "came at" one of the passengers according to the report, and reportedly struck one person in the area of the neck and shoulder. 29-year-old Striker, of a Maryland Drive, Summerville address, reportedly was asked to leave several times and according to the report is alleged to have used profane language and fought in the presence of juveniles. She was arrested and taken to the Chattooga County Jail charged with disorderly conduct and Criminal Trespass.
Two Trion were arrested on shoplifting charges at Walmart on Saturday. According to the Sheriff's Department, Walmart's loss prevention officer said he cauht 30-year-old Nina Mariea Marcum and 27-year-old Misty Dawn Treadaway, both of a Maple Street, Trion address, exiting the store with a shopping cart full of merchandise they did not pay for. The women were arrested and taken to the Chattooga County Jail.
A Trion woman Saturday reported to Chattooga County Sheriff's deputies that a $700 ring and earrings were stolen from her Cooper Pit Road, Trion, home. According to the report, the woman said the white gold birthstone ring had a square cut pink stone in the middle and a dimond on each side of the middle stone. Also reported missing was the matching earrings to the ring. The woman said a woman reportedly "with a history of stealing things," was at her home earlier and had asked to use the restroom. The jewelry reportedly was taken from a jewelry box in the woman's bedroom. The indicent was turned over to investigators.
