Mrs. Regenna Lowrance Howard (M)

Mrs. Regenna Lowrance Howard, age 59, of Summerville, GA died Sunday, January 29, 2012 at Floyd Medical Center.

Mrs. Howard was born November 13, 1952 in Fort Payne, AL, the daughter of the late James Monroe Lowrance and Billie Jean Bryant Lowrance. She was employed at Mt. Vernon Mills.

Survivors include her daughters and son-in-law, Traci Johnson, Anjy and Stacy Gill, all of Summerville, GA; grandchildren, Kassi Gill, Jarret Gill, Tori Johnson, and Clayton Johnson; brothers and sisters-in-law, Andy and Donna Lowrance, Newnan, GA and Mitchell and Mary Lowrance, Summerville, GA; sisters, Brenda Whitfield and Frances Williamson, Daytona, FL; and several Nieces and Nephews.

There will be a gathering of family and friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p. m. Wednesday, February 1, 2012 at Mason Funeral Home.

A private ceremony for the family will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers the family ask that donations be made in her memory to the American Cancer Society.

Mrs Deborah Womack Sharp (M)

Mrs. Deborah Womack Sharp, age 58, of Valley Head, AL died Saturday, January 28, 2012 at her residence.

Mrs. Sharp was born July 22, 1953 in Summerville, GA, the daughter of the late Archie and Ruth Butler Womack. She was a homemaker and a member of Chelsea Baptist Church.

Mrs. Sharp is survived by her husband, Roger Sharp; daughter, Tracie Westbrooks; step-daughter, Sarah Sharp; stepsons, Major Steven Sharp and Scot Sharp; sisters, Lillian Rowlls, Mary Sue Smith, and Cathy Hurley; and 12 Grandchildren.

Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p. m. EST Tuesday, January 31, 2012 at Mason Funeral Home with Bro. Jordan Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Johnson Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Josh Smith, Shane Hurley, Terry Rowlls, Keith Smith, Greg Smith, and Kevin Smith.

Mrs. Sharp will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p. m. EST on Monday, January 30, 2012.

MRS. BETTY SPARKS, age 83, of Bankston Street-Summerville, Georgia passed away Thursday , January 19, 2012, in the local nursing home. A native of Trion, Georgia, she was born December 16, 1928, a daughter of the late James Robert Hill, Sr. and the late Navada Childers Hill. Mrs. Sparks was a member of the Church of God.
She was preceded in death by sisters-the late Lorene Hardigree and Francis Turner and brother-Robert Hill, Jr. Surviving are daughters & spouses-Linda & Wayne Brown of LaFayette and Martha & O.W. Carpenter of Summerville; son & spouse-Terry & Maybell Sparks of Chickmauga; grandchildren-Shannon Stevens of Chickmauga, Amy Frazier of LaFayette, Matt Carpenter and Macy Carpenter of Summerville; great grandchildren-Ashley & Courtney Stevens, Graysen, Calum, & Caden Carpenter, Anna Cobb, and Drew Frazier; sister-Hazel Howell of Nashville, Tennessee; special friend-Peggy Rosson.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, January 22nd, at 3:00 P.M. from the J. D. Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home with Rev. Tom Russell officiating, interment in West Hill Cemetery. Active Pallbearers will be Chuck Frazier, Jeff Stevens, Benny Morgan, Howard Dillard, Phil McGuire, and Ed Campbell. The City of Summerville Mayor and Council will hold a Special Called Meeting on Tuesday, January 17, 2012, at 6:00 p.m. at City Hall.

Ms. Fannie Catharan Searels Obit (M)

Mrs. Fannie Catharan Searels, age 55, of Summerville, GA, passed away Friday at her residence.

Ms. Searels was born January 4, 1957, in Summerville, GA, the daughter of William Bruce Clarkson and Fannie Catharan King Clarkson. She was a retired School Teacher and a member of the Summerville First United Methodist Church.

Survivors include her daughter, Chelsea Searels, son and daughter-in-law, Chris and Avery Hammonds, grandson, Will Hammonds, sister and brother-in-law, Mamie and David Coker.

Memorial service will be held 3:00 p.m. Saturday January 21, 2012 from the Summerville first United Methodist Church with Rev. David Hicks officiating. The family will receive friends at the church one hour before the service.

The family respectfully asks that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the Summerville First United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Ola O. Bowling, age 94, of Trion, GA, passed away Sunday January 15,
2012 in the Oakview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Mrs. Bowling was born January 20, 1917, in Randolph County Alabama, the
daughter of the late James Washington Overton and Verna Gilley Overton.
She was retired from Riegel Textile. Mrs. Bowling attended the East Trion
Church of God. She was preceded in death by 6 Brothers, 2 Sisters,
and a daughter-in-law, Gloria Bowling.
Survivors include her children, James L. Bowling, Trion, GA, Marlon P.
and wife, Mary Bowling, LaGrange, GA, Pasty J. Parris, and husband,
Leon Parris, Summerville, GA, Ramona B. Pickle and husband, Malcolm
Pickle, LaFayette, GA, special daughter, Kay Clark, Trion, GA; brothers, J.W.
Overton, and wife, Sue Overton; of Fyffe, AL, 20 Grandchildren, 38 Great-grandchildren,
17 Great-great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Jo Overton,
Fyffe, AL and Hattie Bell Overton, Shreveport, LA; brother-in-law,
J. B. Shelby, Fyffe, AL, and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside and interment services will be held at 3:00 p. m. EST on
Wednesday, January 18, 2012 at Highway Church of God # 75 Cemetery
in Rainsville, AL. Rev. Andy Hutchins and Rev. Malcolm Pickle will
officiate. Pallbearers will be Grandsons.
Mrs. Bowling will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will
receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p. m. EST on Tuesday, January 17,
2012. She will also lie in state at the church from 2:00 until 3:00 p.m. EST
on Wednesday.

Eugene Stoddard Taylor, Jr obit (R)

MR. EUGENE STODDARD TAYLOR, JR., age 83, of Summerville, Georgia passed away Thursday, January 12, 2012, in the local nursing home. A native of northwest Georgia.

 He was born to the late Eugene Stoddard Taylor, Sr. and the late Adeline Wright Taylor on May 22, 1928. Mr. Taylor was a member of the Presbyterian Church, served in the U.S. Marines during Korea, and was a retired attorney-at-law.

 Surviving are daughter-Elizabeth Taylor Archer of Chattanooga; son-Eugene S. Taylor, III of Atlanta; granddaughter-Hannah Archer; grandson-Jamie Archer. Graveside service will be held Sunday, January 15th, at 2:00 P.M. in the Family lot of Summerville Cemetery with Rev. Mike Penson officiating.

Mrs. Virginia Angel “Vicki” Beuchaw Ballinger, age 53, of Menlo, GA died Thursday,
January 5, 2012.
Mrs. Ballinger was born February 19, 1958 in Guthrie, OK. She was retired from
Shepherd Hills Nursing Home. Mrs. Ballinger was a member of Menlo Methodist
Church. She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Mavity Helms; and
her step-father, Floyd Coffman.
Survivors include her husband, Jimmy L. Ballinger; sons, Jerry L. Ballinger,
Summerville, GA, and Jimmy Lee Ballinger, Gore, GA; daughters, Heather
Dudek, Mulhall, OK, and Teri Helms, Ft. Payne, AL; parents, Juanita Coffman,
Guthrie, Ok; father, Walter F. Beuchaw, Minneapolis, KS; brothers, Melvin
Beuchaw, Floyd Coffman, Robert Coffman, and Brandon Beuchaw; sisters,
Christine Coffman, and Brenda Beuchaw, all of Guthrie, OK; and 11 Grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p. m. Sunday, January 8, 2011 at Mason
Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jimmy Weaver officiating. Burial will follow
in Mt. Olive Cemetery.
Mrs. Ballinger will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will

Mrs. Edna Johnson Phillips, age 93, of Summerville, GA died Friday, January 6, 2012
at Floyd Medical Center.
Mrs. Phillips was born May 11, 1918 in Summerville, GA, the daughter of the late
Mark E. and Rosa Gifford Johnson. She was retired from Summerville Manufacturing
Company.
Survivors include her husband to whom she was married for over 77 years, Joe Hutcheson
Phillips, SR; son, Joe H. Phillips, JR; daughter and son-in-law, Katherine and Charles Frady;
5 Grandchildren; 9 Great-grandchildren; and 4 Great-great-grandchildren.
Graveside and interment services will be held at 2:00 p. m. Sunday, January 8, 2012
at Greenhills Memory Gardens with Dr. William Flannagan officiating. Pallbearers
will be grandsons and great-grandsons, Michael Frady, Kenneth Frady, Kane
Phillips, Nathan Plant, Nicholas Plant, and Nigel Plant.
Mrs. Phillips will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive
