Dale Lorraine Covington obit

Mrs. Dale Lorraine Covington, age 64, of Summerville, GA died Monday, May 16, 2011 at Redmond
Regional Medical Center.
Mrs. Covington was born May 26, 1946 in LaFayette, GA, the daughter of the late Arthur
Shropshire and Edna Johnson Shropshire. Mrs. Covington was a homemaker and member of
the Church of Christ. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Sheldon
L. Covington; and a brother, Virgil L. Johnson.
Survivors include her husband, George W. Covington; son, George P. (Diane) Covington;
daughters, Dawn P. (Victor) Taylor, Cheryl C. Weems, and Felicia D. Covington; sister, Bertha
L. Darden; 12 Grandchildren; and 2 Great Grandchildren.
Graveside and interment services will be held at 2:00 p. m. Friday, May 20, 2011 at Summerville
Cemetery with Min. Jessie Bankston officiating. Pallbearers will be Wayne Perry, Terrell
Perry, Jeff Covington, John Jett, Nathan Adams, and Horace Wooten.
Mrs. Covington will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from
12:00 noon until 1:30 p. m. on Friday.
Mason Funeral Home is in charge of funeral services for Mrs. Dale Lorraine Covington who passed
away on Monday.

Mr. Bert Pendergrass Obit

Mr. Bert Pendergrass, age 77, of Summerville, GA died Sunday, May 15, 2011 at NHC Nursing
Home in Rossville, GA.
Mr. Pendergrass was born May 2, 1934 in Sherwood, TN, the son of the late Jim and Peggy
Perry Pendergrass. He was retired from Roper Corporation. Mr. Pendergrass was a member
of the Noble Church of God. He was a veteran of the United States Army. Other than his
parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Geneva Griffis Pendergrass and a son, Wayne
Pendergrass.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Ricky and Tamra Pendergrass; daughters and
son-in-law, Tammy Pendergrass, Lisa and Brian Shook; brothers, Bill Stephenson and Leon
Stephenson; sisters, Mary Womack, Betty Tomlin, and Diane Glenn; grandchildren, Breanna,
Kiara, and Cailie.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p. m. Wednesday, May 18, 2011 at Mason Funeral Home
with Rev. Ricky Clark officiating. Burial will follow in Subligna Cemetery with Rev. Ricky
Clark officiating. Pallbearers will be William Ragland, Joe Austin, Randy Green, Shannon
Bennett, Mike Forester, Ray Trammell, and Steven Womack.
Mr. Pendergrass will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends
from 6:00 until 8:00 p. m. Tuesday. May 17, 2011.

Town of Trion Memorial Day Hours

The Town of Trion business office, maintenance department, gas department and recreation department will be closed on Monday, May 30, 2011 for Memorial Day.  Garbage normally picked up on Monday will be picked up Tuesday, May 31, 2011.  All other days will be on regular schedule.

For any emergency calls for gas or police department please call emergency 911 and they will contact the proper person.

Odessa Wilson obit

MRS. ODESSA "Bea" WILSON, age 90, of Summerville, GA, Teloga Community, passed away Tuesday, morning, May 10, 2011. A native of Dekalb County, AL, she was born on April 21, 1921, a daughter of the late Mark A. and Eliza Boozer Lacy. Mrs. Wilson was a Home Maker, member of the Eastern Star, and a Member of Summerville First United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, William H. “Bill” Wilson, on June 17, 2009.

Surviving are sons and daughters-in-law W. A. and Claudia Ann Wilson of Ackworth, GA; and Thomas Harold and Jean McCain Wilson of Roswell, GA. Grandchildren, Nicole Kathleen Wilson, Thomas Andrew Wilson and Jennifer Leigh Wilson Jimenez and spouse Angel. A Brother Dallas Lacy, several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be Friday, May 13 at 1:00 P.M. from the J. D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Tinson and Ricky Studdard officiating, interment in West Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Earle Rainwater Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions to the Summerville First United Methodist Church or The Alzheimer’s Association.

Mrs. Eva Collins obit

MRS. EVA CAROL McFALLS COLLINS, age 74, of Collins-Youngblood Road-Armuchee, Georgia, Little Sand Mt. Community, passed away Wednesday at Her residence. She was born in Cohutta, Georgia on March 21, 1937, a daughter of the late San and Margaret Hunsucker McFalls. Mrs. Collins was Valedictorian of NW Whitfield High School Class of 1955, received her B.S. degree in Home Economics from Berry College in 1959, while at Berry was art editor of Cabin Log and Editor of Mt. Carrier. She was Gilmer Co. Extension Agent, Georgia Power home economist returning to Berry and receiving her double Masters Degrees in Education and Reading. Afterward She taught school in Hall Co., Gordon Co., and Lyerly Elementary in Chattooga Co. She was married September 15, 1963 to Ben F. Collins, who preceded her in death on August 31, 1996.

Surviving are daughters & spouses-Carol C. & Jim Bradfield of LaGrange and Allora C. & Robert Linderman of Rome; sons & spouses-Franklin S. & Kim Collins of Huntsville, AL. and Daniel K. & Jennifer Collins of Houlton, ME.; grandchildren- Joshua Bradfield, Emalee Collins, Eston Collins, Collin San Linderman, and Jared Cook; sister-Wilda M. Leatherwood of Cohutta.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by Earle Rainwater Funeral Home.

 

Project Rescue the Trenton Prom

Project Rescue the Trenton Prom is underway and the team is asking the community to help were they can.

They are in need of a place to hold the prom, dress wear for males and females to be donated, supplies for decorations, refreshment, etc.

They currently have to drop off stations from the needed items: Trenton City Hall, Friday and Saturday (May 6 and 7) from 9am to 4pm and United Methodist Church in Trenton Friday and Saturday (May 6 and 7) from 9am to 7pm.

The NATIONAL DAY OF PRAYER

The National Day of Prayer will be celebrated on Thursday, May 5th, 2011 at the Chattooga High School Stadium.  It will begin at 6:00 pm and the Speaker will be Pastor Maury Davis of Cornstone Church in Madison, TN.

The City of Summerville Mayor and Council Members will be holding a SPECIAL CALLED MEETING on Tuesday, May 3, 2011 at 6pm at City Hall.
