Young Farmer Director Lauren Jarrett, alongside dedicated members from the Chattooga County Young Farmers chapter, recently delivered a pallet of fencing supplies to the Coffee County chapter of the Georgia Young Farmers. This gesture is a part of ongoing efforts to support farmers facing the aftermath of the hurricane. Jarrett commented on the situation, stating, “The farmers in the area have a long road ahead for cleanup and rebuilding.”
The Eleventh annual Sequoyah Quilt Show is scheduled for Saturday, October 19 during the hours of 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. and Sunday, October 20 during the hours of 11:00 a.m. -3:00 p.m. inside the Historic Summerville Depot, located at 119 East Washington Street in downtown Summerville. Quilts of all ages, colors, patterns, and designs will be on display, along with live demonstrations. The show will feature a wide variety of modern, antique, and rare quilts. DeKalb County, Alabama Sheriff Nick Welden has confirmed that Logan Ryan Jackson, 36, of Mentone, was involved in the production of child pornography. The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) alerted DeKalb County Investigators about the potential upload of child sexual abuse material to an online search service. A search warrant was executed on October 9, 2024, and it was discovered that Jackson possessed numerous videos and images depicting children engaged in sexual acts. Several electronic devices were confiscated, and the investigation is ongoing with additional charges pending. Jackson was charged with Possession of Child Porn (x10). Sheriff Welden expressed gratitude for the collaboration between NCMEC and the Alabama Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, stating that there is no indication that Jackson was involved in the production of any videos or images and that every instance of child pornography is a victimization of the child involved.

Tonight, expect partly cloudy skies with temperatures around 38 degrees and a north wind of 5 to 10 mph, gusting up to 20 mph. Wednesday will be sunny with a high near 60 degrees, similar wind conditions, and clear skies at night with a low of around 35 degrees. Areas of frost may be present Thursday morning before 9 AM, but sunshine will warm things up, reaching a high of 64 degrees. Friday will start with patchy frost before 8 AM, followed by sunny skies and a high near 69 degrees. The weekend looks promising with sunny weather and highs near 72 degrees on Saturday.
