Man Arrested For Public Indecency After Lewd Act

A forty-one-year-old Chattooga County man was charged with multiple offenses this week after Summerville Police were called about a man destroying property on Martin Street on Monday morning.  When police arrived on the scene, they saw Jeremy Lee Rich “destroying property and yelling” at residents in the area.  Mr. Rich then proceeded to pull his pants down and perform a lewd act in the presence of officers and with a female resident in sight.  Rich was arrested and continued yelling on the way to the jail.  Once inside the jail, officers removed the handcuffs and Rich began swinging his arms towards officers and yelling.  He was cuffed again and escorted to a cell.  Rich was charged with Criminal Trespass, Disorderly Conduct, Public Indecency and Obstruction of Law Enforcement.

Chamber Luncheon To Feature Tooga Theater

The next Chattooga Chamber meeting will he held next week on September 17th at Noon at the Chattooga County Civic Center on Highway 48 in Summerville across from Truist Bank. Learn about the history of the Tooga and some 100 years of the other theaters in the county . Georgia SOS Announces Settlement Against German Company

Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger and the Securities Division of the Secretary of State’s office announced a settlement against GSB Gold Standard Corporation AG, a German company purportedly operating in the financial and banking technology industry. The settlement names Josip Heit, the alleged owner and Chairman, and other entities collectively known as GSB Group. This settlement ensures that Georgians will receive a return of all investments deposited with GSB Group or GSB Partners.

Summerville Steam Special Chili & Brunswick Stew Cook-Off

The Summerville Steam Special Chili & Brunswick Stew Cook-Off event will be held at the Summerville Depot during the hours of 10:00 a.m. through 3:00 p.m. Amateur teams will compete in a fun filled day of friendly and healthy competition. It is not determined yet who will enjoy this event more, the competitor’s dressing up to serve event goers as they compete for the most spirited team or the die-hard cooks wanting to take home one of the coveted 1st Place Division cash prizes and trophies. Attendees will be able to sample different Chili and Brunswick stew recipes and vote for their favorites in People’s Choice Taste and Best Team Theme/Spirit. Wristbands will be available for purchase on site for $5 beginning at 10:00 a.m. through 2:00 p.m. or until wristbands are sold out. Craft & dessert vendors will also be on site, along with music and a dining area inside the Depot Freight Room. Competitors will also be offering their products for purchase during this event. This free community event is sponsored by Summerville Main Street and GP Federal Credit Union.

Chattooga Lodge 704, located at 2 Millican Street in Summerville, will be having their annual Hobo Supper coming up on Saturday, September 14th.  Plates are $8 each and will consist of pinto beans, corn bread, fried potatoes and cold slaw.  The meal will be served from 11 AM until 2 PM.
