Over forty animals were treated in the two-day event that was held at the shelter in Summerville. The clinic was possible after Chattooga County obtained a grant from the Atlanta Humane Society to help cover the cost of the services provided. Chattooga County Animal Control released a statement saying, “We want to thank #bettertogether for spending the last two days with us here in Chattooga County. These are some of the nicest people you will ever meet and they ABSOLUTLY love what they do. We are working to do this again hopefully in October. We also want to thank Mandy Hale with Telega Springs Farm for allowing us to borrow a generator for the Wellness Wagon, and to Fayla Reynolds Vaughn at Barry’s Auto Sales for allowing us to borrow a power cord for the bus. We can’t wait to do this again so keep your eyes open for more dates”.

According to the Georgia Department of Revenue, the average millage rate assessed by local governments across the state is 30 mills. In 2023, Chattooga County had the fourth lowest property tax rate in the state with only Appling, Stewart and Quitman Counties being lower. Fulton County has the highest.
