Trion BOE Public Hearing Next Week

The Trion City Board of Education will be holding the second and final hearing on the 2024-2025 Fiscal Year operating budget for Trion City Schools coming up next week on Monday, July 8th.  The meeting will be held at noon at the Trion City Board of Education at 239 Simmons Street in Trion.  The proposed budget can be viewed HERE.  The public is invited and encouraged to attend.

Summerville Teen Charged With Child Molestation

A nineteen-year-old Summerville man has been arrested and charged with child molestation.  Logan Jayden Pickern was arrested on Thursday morning of last week after an investigation by the Chattooga County Sheriff’s Office.  Sheriff Mark Schrader told WZQZ News over the weekend that Pickern was carrying on a sexual relationship with a twelve-year-old female child.  Pickern was arrested last week by Investigator Daniel Sanford after an investigation that began last month and concluded that Pickern was having sex with the child.  Pickern was booked into the Chattooga County Jail and was subsequently released on a $50,000 bond, according to Sheriff Schrader.

Valley Head Man Charged With Murder

A Valley Head, Alabama man is accused of shooting a woman to death. According to the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office, twenty-seven-year-old James Michael Howard Jr. was charged with murder and public intoxication.
