Registration For Toys For Tots Open Until November 30

 

Registration for the Toys for Tots program is open through November 30th for Chattooga County residents.  The Toys for Tots program is overseen by the Rome Exchange Club and serves Floyd, Polk and Chattooga Counties. The successful program distributed over 14,000 toys last Christmas.

Pumpkin Palooza and Halloween Candy Walk Is Set For October 29

Everything’s coming up candy and pumpkins in downtown Summerville on Saturday, October 29. Summerville Main Street will team up with the Summerville Trion Optimist Club to present a Pumpkin Palooza, complete with a Pumpkin Decorating Contest and the Halloween Candy Walk! This fall celebration will be held down the East Washington Streetscape to the Summerville Depot. Hours for the Pumpkin Palooza will run from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. Vendors will be on hand with a variety of foods, crafts, and retail for the public’s pleasure.

Chattooga Land Use Committee Meeting This Evening

The Chattooga County Land Use Committee is meeting this evening at 7 PM.  At the last meeting, the committee asked citizens with concerns about the land use ordinance to submit their concerns in writing to the committee.  The meeting will be held at the Chattooga County Civic Center, located on Highway 48 in Summerville across from Truist Bank.  A group of concerned citizens has started a petition to overturn the ordinance that was signed by Chattooga County Commissioner Blake Elsberry earlier this year.  The petition is available for signatures at several local businesses. Georgia Labor Commissioner Mark Butler has announced that Georgia’s job numbers increased almost 13,000 over the month to a new all-time high.  The September unemployment rate remained an all-time low of 2.8 percent for the third consecutive month. Georgia’s unemployment rate was seven-tenths of a percent lower than the national September 2022 unemployment rate of 3.5 percent.

Upcoming November Events At Kennesaw Mountain
