The Chattooga High School future health professionals – HOSA – will be hosting a mother-son dance coming up this Saturday, October 29th. The mother-son dance will be held at 6 PM at Chattooga High School. Participants are urged to come dressed for Halloween. There will be a costume contest at the dance. The mother-son dance is for children ages 3-13.

The Floyd County Coroner’s office is seeking to identify a body that was found on the banks of the Etowah River in Rome on Sunday afternoon.

Georgia gas price continues to be one of the cheapest in the United States. Georgia drivers are now paying an average price of $3.20 per gallon for regular unleaded gasoline (subject to change overnight). Monday’s state average is 5 cents less than a week ago, 7 cents more than a month ago, and 3 cents less than this time last year. It now costs $48.00 to fill a 15-gallon tank of regular gasoline. Drivers are now paying almost 50 cents less to fill-up at the pump compared to a year ago.

The Georgia State Patrol continues the investigation into a weekend wreck in Northwest Georgia that took the life of a teenager. The accident happened on Highway 411 near the Floyd County-Bartow County line.

The City of Summerville is seeking to increase production at a well the city owns at Gamble Spring located off Highway 48 in Summerville near Raccoon Creek. The well is currently an 8″ well and the city is looking for a contractor to convert the well to a 12″ well. That conversion would provide a well capable of pumping 1,500 gallons of water per minute. The city will be opening bids from contractors on November 14th at 5 PM at Summerville City Hall. The city continues to develop wells to supply its water treatment plant after the EPA said that the water supply from Raccoon Creek had concentrations of man-made chemicals called PFAS, that were not acceptable.

On Saturday, a good number of Chattooga County voters turned out to take advantage of Saturday voting for the General Election that is coming up next month.
