On Friday, the Army Corps of Engineers approved a permit application submitted by Resource Environmental Services for permission to being the cleaning process of Town Creek that flows from Willow Spring Park through downtown Summerville.

Gospel singer Jason Crabb will be headlining the Chattooga County Agricultural Fair on Sunday evening of the fair. Crabb was voted “Favorite Male Vocalist” at the inaugural Harmony Honors Awards and “Favorite Young Artist” at the 2000 Singing News Fan Awards. In 2004, he was voted 2004 Gospel Music Male Vocalist of the Year. He has been nominated for many other awards during his career. He has worked extensively with the Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir as a soloist. Jason and his wife, Shellye, have two daughters, Ashleigh Taylor and Emmaleigh Love. Local public health officials are asking to hear from anyone who may have been bitten by a rabid beaver in an incident Wednesday, July 20, at an Armuchee Creek swimming hole in north Floyd County. According to reports, an individual was bitten or scratched attempting to keep the beaver from attacking another person floating nearby. The individual killed the beaver which subsequently tested positive for rabies at the state lab.

Summerville First Baptist Church will be having Homecoming services Sunday, August 21st at 10:30 AM. Special music will be from Karen Peck & New River. A Fellowship Meal will follow the morning service and everyone is invited to attend.
