In April of this year, local law enforcement were notified about a stolen motorcycle in Summerville. An investigation involving the Chattooga County Sheriff’s Office, Georgia State Troopers and the Lookout Mountain Judicial Circuit Drug Task Force revealed information that lead law enforcement to believe the stolen Husqvarna motorcycle was taken by Dexter Cody Crabtree of Trion.
An arrest has been made in connection with a robbery on Monday of this week, at the Dollar General Store located on the Alabama Highway in Coosa in Floyd County.
The rising number of COVID-19 cases in Northwest Georgia has been making headlines lately, and one governmental office in neighboring Floyd County was forced to close their doors to the public yesterday because of COVID. Floyd County Probate Judge Steve Burkhalter made the decision to close the Probate Court office to the public yesterday in order to help mitigate the spread of COVID-19. Office staff were still available to answer questions by phone and e-mail.

The Home Depot store in Rome reported a theft to the Rome Police Department this week. According to reports, equipment was reported stolen after a renter failed to return over $27,000 worth of merchandise. The customer had rented a Kubota U17 mini excavator along with a trailer. The renter failed to return the equipment on the scheduled day. The value of the the excavator is $23,288 and the value of the trailer is $3,871.30. There were no names of possible suspects mentioned in the report.
Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park is a short drive from Chattooga County and the park will be offering several interpretive programs during the month of August. Yesterday, WZQZ News reported on an incident report from the Chattooga County Sheriff’s Office that was released this week about an incident that happened last weekend concerning a teenager that was taken to jail for assault. We were not aware, nor was there any indication in the report from the sheriff’s office that the teenager in question was Autistic. Still, WZQZ would like to apologize to the family and have deleted the article from our website and social media. While all incident reports are public record, WZQZ will reach out the the sheriff’s office in an effort to make sure there are more facts presented in public reports of this nature.
