The Atlanta based Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced on Wednesday that Labcorp will begin testing for monkeypox using CDC’s orthopoxvirus test. This test is designed to detect all non-smallpox related orthopoxviruses, including monkeypox.

The Summerville City Council will hold their July meeting coming up tomorrow, July 11, 2022 at Summerville City Hall. The council has scheduled the second reading of the alcohol ordinance that would provide for an “entertainment district” in downtown Summerville. Also, the council is expected to discuss a donation to the Chattooga County Agricultural Fair that is coming up in August. There are also several equipment purchases on the agenda for the council to consider. The meeting will get underway at Summerville City Hall at 5 PM and the public is invited to attend.
A Chattooga County deputy noticed a 2001 Saturn traveling on Highway 27 in Trion that was failing to maintain a single lane. He also noticed that the windshield on the car was broken out. The deputy performed a traffic stop and called for backup from the Trion Police Department.
Indoor and Outdoor Marijuana Operation in Shannon

A Shannon trio remains in jail Friday after police discovered a marijuana harvesting operation at their home in the former mill village. Police also uncovered 63 animal remains and malnourished dogs that were removed by authorities.
The Chattooga Chamber of Commerce is inviting their members and the public to the next meeting coming up July 21st.
