Song Farmers Meeting Today

The Song Farmers will hold a good old-fashioned music event at Dowdy Park today from 4 PM to 7 PM.  Come out to the park and bring your lawn chairs and gather under the shade trees for some good gospel, country and bluegrass music.  All musicians are welcome to attend the event.  There will be food vendors on site including Reita’s Fried Pies and Homemade Ice Cream and Small Town BBQ.  The event is held at the park during the summer and will be moved to Fairway Recreation in the winter months.

Hays State Prison Finds Drugs Hidden In Book

Corrections officers at one Hays State Prison were able to stop a large amount of drugs from coming into the prison. The Georgia Department of Corrections say they received a vacuum-sealed package of books at the Hays State Prison in Chattooga County.

Whatley Arrested On Gun Charges

More information has been released about the arrest of the son of a man who was fatally shot earlier this week in Rome.  The charges against nineteen-year-old Derricus Ramon Whatley, Jr. came after authorities say he pulled a gun on another during an altercation at 200 South Broad Street.
